Team 17 has received a rating for Worms: Ultimate Mayhem from the Australian Classification Board. The unannounced invertebrate title will likely be digitally distributed -- like most of Team 17's most recent projects.
If the Ultimate Mayhem title is a hint of what to expect from this game, then it would be fair to guess it's based on Worms 4: Mayhem. Meaning Worms: Ultimate Mayhem could be the first 3D Worms game for HD consoles. A new 3D installment of Worms certainly comes with risk, as the 3D iterations of Worms were never as well-received as their 2D counterparts.

I never got into worms until the re-releases on XBLA. I have to say I'm excited for this.

3D worms has always been fun, it's just a completely different beast. Ninja roping is pretty much verboten and the 3D nature of landscapes can make it very difficult to assault a worm on the other side of the map, especially with how wind is handled.

YES. Worms 4 Mayhem was, and always will be, the best worms game.
Deal with it.

I enjoy Worms 2D, but Worms 3D for the 'cube was easily my favorite.
It had some messy seams here and there though, so a new, more polished 3D one would be welcome!

I'm not certain, but I thought they said they weren't doing 3D worms any more.

Why they dropped the amazing art style, animations, voices, physics engine, and level of destructive detail from Worms 2, Worms World Party and, most importantly, Worms: Armageddon, I'll never know, and will always be reminded of whenever Team17 announces a new Worms game.

I'll consider it if it's a good 3D game. But I have bought far too many 2D Worms games to get tricked into buying another one. My favorite is STILL Worms Armageddon, the PC game from the late 90's, not the XBLA one. Not that any of the 2D Worms games since then have been bad, they just haven't really changed the game since then. They are all the same with varying degrees of content, features, and polish.
