The official PAX Twitter announced today that PAX Prime 2011, which won't even take place in Seattle until August, is sold out. Full stop.
Penny Arcade's marketing man Robert Khoo told us previously that the show got clearance to sell about 10 percent more badges than in prior years, but that didn't seem to make much of difference.
It would seem PAX East was a failure on one level: despite welcoming 69,500 attendees in March, it did nothing to reduce demand for the Seattle show taking place August 26–28. If you didn't grab tickets and still want to go, prepare to put up a fight with the scalpers.

Happy to see PAX continue to be so successful and see continued growth; Even if I'll never have a chance to go myself.

I wasn't aware reducing demand for Prime was one of the goals of PAX East.

Hopefully PAX East is not viewed as a failure.
The East needs SOMETHING.

@Sabbatai: I don't see how anyone could call PAX East a "failure" when it sold out completely. Yeah, it wasn't months ahead of time... but money is money, and there was plenty made.
The wife and I had a great time in 2010, really regretted missing 2011, and are looking forward to a great time in 2012.

Yep, I'm going to hound people for spare tickets myself - a couple friends told me last minute they want to attend, but I didn't buy extra. So I'm going to make a sign:

I unknowingly went to Seattle last year around that time, and boy oh boy the hostels I went to were all smelly nerd fests! it was the worst. I would try to use the computer to look for directions and there would be someone watching you tube videos of starcraft!!
really? get out a little. you're in a new city!
I will never go to another city during a comic con or game expo ever again.

Finally heading to my first PAX/game convention. So STOKED! Just hope I don't pass out after being hit with the sheer awesomeness that is PAX when I first step through the doors in August.

I'm sad to say that most of my friends who want to go to PAX probably didn't get passes, despite the fact that I've reposted EVERY Joystiq article about passes dwindling on my Facebook page. Some people just can't plan ahead.

Bought my 3-day pass the day they went on sale, so I'm set, but I think some of my friends who wanted to go are going to end up missing out.

Oh no. I missed my chance to hang around people that have fleas and swine flue. It was cool the first year, now it's just played out and too many people have awful hygiene.

If I ever get the chance to go to the US in the near future, I have plans to time it around multiple things. PAX is one of them :P
