Half-surprised it wasn't simply allowing us to start paying for the service before it became available.

I think I need to take a break from all the anti-Activison vitriol ._.

Are there really people that will seriously pay for this when games like Halo Reach and many others do this for free?

They're throwing in the MW3 map packs for free, so it's actually not as bad a value as you might think.

Right. Because every paid service in the world is completely protected against hackers. And there's no way Live could come down under any circumstances, especially not for 3 weeks in 2008.

If MS was the one pissing off hackers, you'd better believe the same would've happened to them.

You're right, it was 2. That's soooo much better. I guess if PSN was a paid service, we wouldn't have had to wait that extra third week right?

Lolfail. It had INTERMITTENT SERVICE for 2 weeks. By intermittent I mean you couldn't download the cod 4 map pack unless you tried 5 or 6 times, and sign in took a minute instead of a second. And some people had no problems at all, while others had more problems.

Oh the service was down on the 28th or something, for one day. Compared to three weeks of downtime, that's uh.. not much.

Here's the article that every PS3 fanboy links to: http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/03/xbox-live-outage-day-13-still-up-and-down-still-preventing-fu/

Notice how the picture says "Users may experience issues such as... purchasing content... account recovery... linking Gamertags... redemption of microsoft points... transactions in cod 4"

And most of us only got this for one day.

This PSN outage has brought out the blind fanboyism in people, and I'm just stating the facts.

Did you register your game keys on the BF veteran site? Simply owning them is not enough. It's a simple process. Go to the official BC2 website, log in with your EA ID, and click on "Veteran".

And the Gun Club does exist. They just aren't doing much with it. I think the biggest thing it's down so far is unlock some guns early in MoH.

I'd like to point out that I get a lot for the $60 a year that I pay for XBL gold. And they don't piss off hackers.

Personal I don't get why people complain about paying $5 / month for XBL.

Then again I don't own a PlayStation-anything... And I'm not some stupid Microsoft fanboy. I just like the xbox better, I have played a PS3 and it didn't seem that special to me. But then again neither does my xbox. They play most of the same games in HD. If it was a Wii I would flat out say it's crap though, they can't do anything close to Sony or Microsoft.

From: Call of Duty Player who spend over 3K hrs in just MW2

To: Activision

If MW3 is sold for $59.99 please include this service free with it. OR something that compliments the players with rewards (real life one not a virtual badge or a camo).

The only reason I am still playing Cod is due to MW section of Cod. If MW3 does not deliver something exponentially beneficial compared to MW2 then this franchise is considered dead. ( just like any franchise that tries to milk the last drop of milk from the tit).

FYI: Please do not make the same mistake of Guitar Hero with Call of Duty.

I remember when Microsoft originally announced that 360 video game prices would increase to $60.00 - I would have never thought they would charge additional fee's for DLC. Map packs I'll bite the bullet and buy, but "Premium Elite" memberships can go pound sand.

@Mr Esc is the namesarcasm is my , What you said is true. I honestly believe that Activision is on thin ice when it comes to COD Franchise. If they mess MW3 up then EA and DICE will have an upper hand in this industry.

@GreenLight This reminds me of Starbucks.. When an average coffee cost $2 how on earth did they come to the market and start selling coffee for $6. Today $6 coffee is a norm.

End of the day everyone is willing to support a company that truly takes efforts in providing good content to their players.

You know that is the worst part of this: That there will be people that actually will pay for this, increasing the hunger of money to more developers that will try to imitate similar models, like the "Project $10" as now, almost every single game published has this online pass.
