Split/Second game director, producer form RoundCube Entertainment
14
Two of Black Rock Studios' biggest players have decided to form their own thing: RoundCube Entertainment. Nick Baynes, game director on Split/Second, will head up the new outfit, while Ian Monaghan, previously senior producer at Black Rock, will now act as development director. Both were affected by the latest round of layoffs from parent company, Disney.
According to GI.biz, about 30 currently remain at Black Rock, toiling away on a project for Disney. As for RoundCube, they haven't announced what they're going to do next, but if you ask us it should have something to do with tiny increments of time.

I concur Split Second 2 would be wonderful. I can't believe Disney hasn't allowed them to make a sequel. The game did sell yes?

Disney literally sucks souls for sustenance. Seriously.
They're one of the WORST companies to work for IF you have a spine, an independent soul, and any idea that isn't "Disney" and you'll soon find out that there's no pleasing them.
It's a situation where the brand is so big and nearly unbeatable they don't give a crap about anything but immediate cash cows.
You'd think these big companies would have a brain and soul, you know, encourage new things, products, ideas because they DO have a lot of money.
But then the executives would get a couple million less every year and the idiot stock holders may not see "continued growth" and ALL IS LOST!!!

It's no wonder Split/Second sold poorly. It was released in the same month as Blur (which I really like) and Mod Nation Racers. Bizarre, who made Blur, are also out of business now. Companies need to plan their releases better to avoid collision with similar games or they will all end up selling badly.

Awesome game. A shame it's been treated like it has. Poor marketing and such. It's still not on Steam, either. More Disney stupidity and such.

Loved Spit/Second. I picked it up a little late (sometime around Sept or Oct last year) but fell in love with it. Too bad as on Ps3 I can never get an online game :(

I see so it looks like Disney will probably try to get the company bankrupt or sell it.

Developers leave and start their own spin-off studio?! Why in the video game industry that's almost unheard of!!!!

I hate to harp on something so trivial, but RoundCube is a terrible name.
