With this and the new Twisted Metal coming out, the inner 90s child in me is having a happy spaz attack.

I can't tell you how excited I am about this game... I've been saying since the second one that they need a new one (tdr2k didn't count). ESPECIALLY with the next gen consoles... Can you imagine Split/Second meshed with Burnout meshed with Dead Rising (but without zombies - unless you live in Germany)? HOW AWESOME is that... that was what we had 10+ years ago with amazing physics, *especially* for the time and fun as hell gameplay that STILL holds up. Can't. Freakin'. Wait.

@(Unverified) After they initially announced this I reinstalled a copy I surprisingly still had. I will have to disagree with you on the "they still hold up front".

As much as I don't really care for, or have some sort of nostalgic attachment to, the Carmageddon series (and I am pretty sure I played all of them but who knows at this point) I think this is the best route for this. I can't imagine them pushing a full retail release.

I remember playing the original while listening to R.E.M.'s Out of Time. To this day I can't hear "Shiny Happy People" without thinking of running over pedestrians.

ROAD RASH have been the #1 title on my vidgame wish list, dating back to 1999.

at the time (while playing the Dreamcast) me and my friend were thinking how incredible the next Road Rash would look. Sadly, it never happened.

I expect EA looked at Road Rash 3D and Jailbreak's receptions, and decided people had had tired of the franchise. Instead of realizing, any lack of sales had to do with the title's dated graphic engine. For as much as i loved Road Rash 3D (in my personal vidgame HOF), the game was one of the ugliest of the generation and the combat aspect virtually unplayable.

the racing was still fun as helll, tho.

I expect wiggling bodies on car-mounted pitch forks for this to be a winner.

Best part of that game was the way you repaired your car. It would morph back into place. Ive never seen that in any other game.

Sadly, it'll lack the one thing that made the Carmageddon series truly great... the modding community!

I remember the excitement of a new car design being uploaded to one of my favorite Carmageddon sites, downloading it, then going to the tedious process of modding my data files to add it to the lineup. A lot of them we're pretty crappy... but a few were just freakin' great.

Not quite so much of a modding community for Carmageddon 2 or TDR, but the original was a hoot!

Must temper excitement...Carmageddon online, though, with modern multiplayer systems could be so much fun.

Please, more like the first one..... No mission timers (as long as you keep whacking peds). Keep the Solid Granite powerup (and keep it invisible to others like the first one) so my fellow racers wreck their car when they try and blindside me.... More ramps and leaping across buildings. More like the racing through skyscrapers model like the first and less like the demolition derby sandbox game that was that XBLA game they (Stainless) did a few years back. This game was played for hours (at night) on our office LAN during the Clinton era.....
