Game of the year for me. Classic Sonic was all SEGA needed to convince me to buy it. SEGA finally got it right with Colors and this is kicking it up a notch.

Improved Sonic Colors + Nostalgia = Good Sonic game. Let's hope the formula translates into success for the 3DS as well.

As someone who takes public transit... it still kinda sucks right now. Maybe that's because I live in Pittsburgh (a city which is actively trying to kill off its public transit system for some reason), but I'd rather think it's because the 3DS hasn't reached the levels of saturation that the DS did. Once more people in NA have 3DSes, and use the StreetPass feature, it'll work out a lot better.

Also, I can see kids/students getting a lot more use out of it than adults, but hey.

I found out pretty late in my childhood that I just didn't like platformers. Ive played most(mario, kirby, sonic, rayman, even vectorman), but I just don't feel they're so great. Hopefully this game adds something different to the table.

Street pass features are useless, I've gone all over the place with my 3DS since launch and only got two street pass hits not including ones I've gotten inside a video game store. If you're lucky to get a street pass the other guy probably doesn't even have the game you do.

At least it's 10x better than the old DS system street-pass-ish thing...
I mean... not only would you have to find someone who has their DS ON in their pocket - you'd have to make sure they had the same game INSIDE their DS... THAT was impossible.

...and Streetpass features AREN'T useless. They're useless for you particularly, and they seem useless to many others who have the same situation as you, but they're not useless for many others who don't.
...like us in the StreetPass communities.
Unless you have a StreetPass Community, go to a school with rich parents, frequent every area in a college campus, or live in an area where the 3DS is popular: You're just going to have to wait for the 3DS to pick up sales in Christmas.

I've gotten almost 100 tags with 77 different people. Some come into the store where I work, some are in the city my schools in, and some I passed by when going to events. You're probably just not going to the right places. Even then, thats what play coins are for.

@blahblah55 I realize it's partly due to circumstance and where you are located, I'm just speaking out of frustration. I really don't do that much walking around but I just expect to get more hits than I have when I AM walking around. My first 3DS game didn't really give you anything special for street passes but my second one has this whole lego pirate duel thing that I'm missing out on.

@Nolan North I agree that I'm probably not going to the right places, it's just a let down to feel like I'm missing out on features in my games. Play coins are an interchangeable substitute in some games like Puzzle Quest but not in all games. Hopefully 3DS sales pick up.

Which is a good game.

The game you're thinking about doesn't really have a name, it's just called "Puzzle Swap".

Make sure to check it regularly, as it only holds 10 usable streetpasses at a time. So when you get one, use it, then rinse and repeat. Otherwise, you'll be wasting several valuable streetpass tags.

ah SEGA you cant make me care anymore. all of these gimmick are killing him. I would just like to see him back in his days of speed and saving animals remember that, but now hes past self is a sidekick or something.

I guess nothing will change SEGAs raping of sonic i guess i will stick with playing sonic classic collection on my DS, it only had 2 sidekicks and it was one per game that make a show up.

"Following standard Sonic protocol, we're not going to get our hopes up for either yet."

Dear Mr. Fletcher, I see the need for concerning any Sonic game on an HD console, but Sonic Colors was not a dream. It was real. Cynicism is not a prerequisite for gaming journalism - as much as it may seem so.

Be brave, like things, be happy, enjoy games, godspeed =D

One enjoyable (but not great) game after years and years of completely shit games is not enough to regain confidence in Sonic Team.

The guy who's working on the 3DS version also worked on Sonic and The Black Knight.

I don't think being a Journalist has anything to do with the authors completely valid lack of optimism for a new sonic game.

Considering both Sonic Colors and Sonic Unleashed are just Sonic Rush in 3D, I think it's safe to say that it was Sonic Rush that brought Sonic back to form.

Right?

Don't believe me? Look at the stage designs in Sonic Colors. Now look at the stage designs in Sonic Rush... Coincidence? I think not!

I wanna say it started with Sonic Adventure. He seemed slightly less chubby than the 2D days but still had a little bit of bulk to him. However, all that running after Chaos must've helped him lose quite a bit of weight since the Sonic from Adventure 2 is closer to the one we see today.

The only difference between classic Sonic and modern Sonic is the length of his body and limbs. And it looks like they shortened modern Sonic's quills. I remember in the Sonic Adventure box art they were as long as his entire body.

Actually, modern Sonic also has green eyes and the worst of all new features, the undeserved smug grin on his face that just makes you wanna punch it.

On a different note, I love seeing new artwork for classic Sonic.
