Though we're still waiting to hear more on Kojima Productions' sword-swinging action title, Metal Gear Solid: Rising, the series' progenitor gave some hints about his next project in today's pre-E3 presentation. Kojima explained that he's working on a heretofore unannounced title that will run on the "Fox Engine," a new multiplatform development tool which Kojima Productions is creating in-house. A teaser image for the engine shows a PC mouse, a DualShock 3 and a 360 controller, seemingly indicating its compatibility with the three device's respective counterparts.
Kojima explained the engine, which Konami started developing shortly after completing Metal Gear Solid 4, is designed to ease the company's fairly laborious porting process between consoles, freeing Kojima's team to make even more games. We'll keep an eye out for more details on the Fox Engine at E3 next week!

If a genius like kojima realizes that supporting all three main platforms is the way to go why so many companies are still blind to this???

"Hideo Kojima's sword-swinging action title Metal Gear Solid: Rising"
Uh, Kojima is not working on Rising in any capacity apart from "executive producer" (which all creators get on spinoff works); Mineshi Kimura is the director here and he did most of the explanations in the E3 preview last year.

Being a producer can still mean your creative input or assistance in direction of the game. I am sure he isn't being boxed out of his own creation.

Right, he might be the creator of the series as a whole, but this game in particular is still not really his work per se. For example, Hironobu Sakaguchi created the Final Fantasy series and led the first 5 installments; from VI, he acted as producer only and those were not credited primarily to him as it was the other directors and designers who did the bulk of the work on them.

Please be a HD remake of Metal Gear (not Metal Gear Solid though I wouldn't complain).
I really want the first games in HD!

Huh?
Buy both consoles and you get everything there is to offer. You can take Ken's advice and get 2 jobs to purchase an Xbox if money is an issue.

Loving the tech demo displayed for that engine of theirs.
All these new engines are making me very excited for the games which will be produced using them. Particularly the ones with creative minds such as Hideo behind them.

P.S. They definately should've went with the "Foxhound Engine" or maybe the "Foxdie Engine".
In short the numerous words that start with the word "Fox" and derive from the MGS series sound alot better than plain old "Fox Engine"

He says his new game will support "Transfarring" so being a Playstation guy you'll still get a plus, OR it means Microsoft might announce a handheld and support the syncing of games.
I am thinking it's more of throwing Sony a bone and a feature to promote as "exclusive" while still allowing Konami and Kojima a chance at large sales figures do to the large 360 American presence.

I think the engine looks good but it's too early to tell if it's better then what's out in the market right now. So far all we see is an over the shoulder feed which isn't the really the best to benchmark. UE3's and Crytek updates and even the new Red Engine had a direct video, none of this ots stuff.

hmmm, does this mean that there will be no more platform exclusive? hope it wont compromise the quality tho. its best if they have a dedicated team to develop for each platform but im sure it'll take a lot of time. still this multiplatform engine is better than a lousy lazy ass port.

Grats they made a multiplatform engine 3/4 the way into the generation. Japanese development has been so behind in every way this gen, really is a shame.

Does any think that the HD remakes might be made in this engine since they are cross platform like the engine? I think it would be a good way to showcase the engine. I also find it hard to believe that a psp game will get a simple bump in resolution and then be ported consoles. Its going to need more than that to look decent on an HD television.
