@trinica This comment has to be brought up on EVERY OnLive-related post. Don't go to criticize the service without actually trying it yourself. Comments like yours are ignorant and seem idiotic to all of those that are aware of the service.

In short: Shut the f*** up.

@trinica Thanks, I'll go enjoy my full-HD streaming online copy of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood loading in 10 seconds that only cost me $30, on a console I'll never have to upgrade during its entire lifespan. Too bad a) your internet sucks or b) you're a close-minded idiot.

That's one chunky controller. With lots of buttons. It makes my Atari look so simplistic, with its one button and stick.

Maybe you didn't notice "chunky" is in vogue again with phones and consoles.

But this time, there is functionality to the chunk. You can't say that about the 4-Port Atari 5200.

@BookishOwl I was just calling it how I saw it. I never said it was bad.

Personally, I quite like the look of it. The handle/grip parts look a bit too chunky for my liking, but if I cared about OnLive, I'd probably pick this up.

As it stands, I prefer console gaming, and New Zealand is too backwards to even work well with OnLive, if it even works at all.

I don't see why I got down-voted for an opinion. I also don't see why I needed to get sent a bunch of links to prove me wrong. Ugh, the internet...

@CaptainProtonX When did I EVER say it was bad? For the record, I was obviously making a comparison to the Atari 2600 controllers, not the 5200. I wasn't even serious, because I was using one of the most basic controllers as an example. This OnLive controller reminds me of the Xbox 360 controller, actually.

Wow, I was all ready to be open-minded about OnLive until your douchey comments. Not even witty, just full of spite. You know what? I'm going to go play MY copy of Assassin's Creed that I own on a disc that I can trade in or loan to a friend if I want. Also, I can play it without an Internet connection, without lag and without using up my download allowance or affecting my contention ratio.

So you can be as douchey as you like but until the hurdles of restrictions are overcome, OnLive is a nice IDEA and that's about it.

@Styli My comments weren't meant to be douchey, they were meant to prove a point to another commenter that stated that he couldn't believe anyone used OnLive. It wasn't meant to be spiteful or anything, and I do agree that the benefits of retail like exchanging games etc. are valid. While I don't really see your comment about controller lag (I haven't experienced this at all), OnLive is still a great service that everyone should try out. With the way cloud computing is growing these days, I could totally see OnLive becoming a standard in the near future. (That non-douchey enough for ya?)

This service seems so silly to me. Buying games, plus a subscription. You get controller lag, lag for sending the input to onlives service, lag for them to stream the games reaction back to you. They have to pay for high end computers and servers, as well as power and internet.

And to do all this you need to have competent internet without a bandwidth cap.

Anyone willing to invest this much into gaming is much better off getting a 360 or PS3. For the life of me I can't imagine why anyone would think this is a good idea. It's neat, in theory, but there are just so many barriers to keep it from being the logical choice.

@CaramelZappa The subscription is only if you want access to something like 58 games on the service at all times. There is no subscription just to use the service anymore. I created an account and downloaded the app just to check it out; have you?

I played a demo for The Maw with no noticeable lag, nothing to install on my own machine, without worrying about configuring anything. Sure, I haven't paid for a game yet, but I liked that much.

I have a PC (built 3 years ago) and multiple consoles, but there's still a place for OnLive, Maybe I don't want to drop a few hundred dollars on PC upgrades to play BF3 at max settings...maybe I'd rather pay the $50 on OnLive for a slightly downgraded visual experience? The place I live has a 6mpbs DSL line, but it seems to function just fine.

The controller is actually a very solid build. If I could, I would use it over the standard console controller. As for the service, it's still a mixed bag. Its all about location and internet speed at the moment, so not everyone will truely share the same experience.

Yes. Okay. That was a much more reasoned response.

For the record, I can see services like OnLive being the future of gaming but they're not the present of gaming for the majority of gamers. ISPs are still too restrictive for most people to make cloud gaming feasible. I can see this changing at some point but I think there's still a whole generation to go til we get there.

If you are one of the lucky ones with super high speed broadband and no cap, I envy you and I mean that wholeheartedly. I can imagine OnLive works great for you.

Reading some of these comments reminds me of that quote "First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. And then, you win". First no-one cared, then they made jokes about it, now people are making pretty aggressive comments against it.

I'll admit that I didn't think onLive would be anything more than a nice but ultimately failed idea at first. However I'm becoming more and more interested in the service as it gains more support from publishers. The only problem is that my internet speed isn't too good, but if I can get round that issue I'm definitely going to look into OnLive.

It's because their way is threatened, they are creatures of habit. Those are (loosely) the stages of grief, and the grief is that the world is changing. Not everyone has the proper coping mechanisms, so it culminates in fear and anguish and distress, like the poor souls in these comments.

I'm still kind of new to the OnLive service- I own Amnesia and Mafia 2 but do not have an OnLive console and controller yet. My question is: does the latency improve using the dedicated console? I have hesitated for the longest time in making the investment and preordering a game (therefore getting the OnLive console with it).

@dragunrising The one thing that gets me about OnLive is that you don't own anything game-wise; if people stop playing them, they reserve the right to pull them from the service and you've lost all access.

@dragunrising I have the micro console, and I haven't ogives any lag. Just make sure that your tv isn't too big for your connection, there is a mb per inch requirement for the service to work without lag. I have a 32" LCD, so I need at least 4mbs for it to work right. If you have 50" then you need almost 6mbs for it to slag free. Hope that helps.

@radioactivez0r you are guaranteed that any game you purchase will be available for 3 years. I usually beat a game and get all the trophies and then trade it in for the next version. I admit I dont do it with all of them, but I do it with the majority, and I think most people do that too. N3 years should be enough for you to beat a game and move on. Lol

How hard is it to understand that there isn't a subscription fee? They offer a subscription if you'd like unlimited access to about 60 games, but it isn't required.
