Choplifter HD also headed to XBLA, features zombie mode
18
Choplifter HD, which is more than a basic HD-ification of the classic '80s game, will also be available on Xbox Live Arcade -- the game was previously announced only for PSN and PC. Destructoid has a video showing off lots of gameplay, the zombie mode and a totally random appearance by Super Meat Boy.
The deeper look at the gameplay reveals that even after 20-something years some things in Choplifter just don't change. Like, squashing hostages, something that is sure to drive a whole new generation of the gaming population absolutely nuts! Also, when you aren't squashing hostages, it appears you'll still be waiting on them to get their butts in the choppa. Oh, how we long for a "move out of the landing zone and run to the chopper like your life depends on it" button.

It looks kind of cool, but from the way he was describing it...
Four whole environments? Really? Four? And twenty levels.
I'll get it as long as it's five dollars, I think.

There is a sub genre for every genre that interests someone. I never liked jet fighter games, but helicopter games always appealed to me for some reason.
If the price is right (for me) I'll pick it up.

Those are some beautiful graphics. Even the HP bar is incredible.
Today is a good day for game designers and enthusiasts.
And shame on all of you for not making an Arnold Schwarzenegger reference.

Oh phew, I was worried a game might slip out without a zombie mode.

It actually looks like they are having some fun with it, the dialogue is just the right amount of goofy ("I think I knew that zombie"). Destructoid's article was a little confusing at the top, though; said you have unlimited missles and then said you don't. If it's $10 I might grab it.

Ah, such fond memories of Choplifter on my Apple IIgs. Unless this is total cockshit, I'll definitely be snagging this one.
Here's to hoping we'll see The Last Ninja HD sometime in the future...

I loved this game on the Atari 8-bit computer. Just 64 hostages to get out. I think I maxed at 61 rescued.

I wish theyd get austrian death machines "get to the choppah" on the soundtrack.

This looks fantastic, without even mentioning the nostalgic value! Since I mentioned it though, I grew up playing the original on the Apple IIc, with the little monochrome monitor. (tear-sniff) Day 1 purchase.
