@Ballistic H It looks more like an HD-ified "Conduit" to me, honestly.

I'm not sure I like this graphical style. The physics and lighting look alright to me, but the animations look somewhat antiquated. I dunno.

But The Conduit's setting isn't during the 1950s.

@Ballistic H Well yeah. I'm thinking of animation and graphic style, rather than setting. The way the enemies move, etc. I dunno.

I love the original "X-COM" game, though. I'm very curious how this one will turn out, but it sure looks like a serious departure.

Thought this was 360/PC exclusive? Ah well, doesn't change the fact that I'm excited for this one.

Many games seem to going multiplatform these days: Metro 2033 and XCOM for PS3, and MGS collection for 360. I wouldn't be surprised to see FF versus and Agent for Xbox and Alan Wake 2 and Witcher 2 for PS3 down the line.

Which is a good thing if you ask me. More games for us all!

@Pure Black World Tendency

I sincerely hope Witcher 2 makes its way over to PS3, as my computer couldn't dream of running it.

And, honestly, Rockstar would be bananas not to put on Agent on Xbox 360. I have a sneaking suspicion that, after looking at the numbers L.A. Noire put up, they'll realize that they'll be better served by putting the game out on both consoles.

With the advent of the Fox Engine, here's to hoping that the age of the third-party exclusive is coming to an end...for Kojima has spoken.

@Urethra Alfredo They had to give PS3 an exclusive for Rockstar getting out of a exclusivity agreement they had with Sony for GTA.

Looks like a Resistance rip-off, definitely not true to X-Com. Which was both a strategy game and set in modern times. I think you could change one of those two features and get away with it, but this...this is just a mess...Couldn't be more disappointed.

Why not make a FPS of the Lost Vikings? Makes just as much sense. PASS FOREVER.

@Endless Ike

Actually, only the first X-Com was kind of based in a modern setting (actually in the far, far future of the year 1999 which gave an excuse for the laser weapons).

I don't want a FPS X-COM, I want a freshening up of the original. Making a generic FPS out of this game is completely unappealing to me.

If they ever decide to make aother X-Com strategy title, then i'll be interested. Slapping the X-Com name on another FPS has no appeal to me.

They've tried making another X-Com strategy title, many times, always with disappointing results. I wouldn't get too excited for the nth attempt anymore.

I really, REALLY hate to say it, but up until I saw this trailer I was really keen and eager to get my hands on this XCOM game.

However, if this is all they can muster as a selling point for an XCOM game I have to say I'm rapidly losing interest. They don't show anything that would make this an XCOM game except the title. It doesn't have to be a turn-by-turn strategy or isometric view or anything - just give me some sort of feel for XCOM rather than a bunch of (yawn!) teleporting aliens.

@Atonnis Not only that but what they've shown wouldn't even be impressive if it were a completely new IP. Where are the greys? They just replaced the covenant with these weird block-constructed foot soldiers and everything about it makes it seem like a straight up run 'n gun FPS.

They'd better have a lot more to show at E3 because the first trailer implied a much different tone than what I saw here.

Does anyone think that the idea of "Taking their technology and using it against them" is going to be way lamer than they imply? I mean, in X-Com it was awesome... Literally prying weapons from their cold dead hands. Literally dragging dead bodies back to the base for disection. In this, I imagine it'll be like every other FPS where you get minor scripted upgrades here and there until it becomes... boring.

It wasn't always this way. In the olden days we youngens would push a wall and get a double shotgun or curl into a ball, drop explosives under us and go through a secret passage to get extra missiles. Or even drag the rotting remains of a roswell gray back to the lab to make weapons out of their kidneys.

Oh, rant rave blah. I'm a sucker so I'll probably give it a try. Hopefully I'm completely wrong.

crossing my fingers and hoping that 2k surprises us with a remake of the original and true X-Com game...because im not all that interested in one of my favorite games of all time being dumbed down to this.

oh well maybe if its any good (if) they will get enough revenue to really do the series justice and go back to its roots.

I still hate them for calling this an XCOM game. If it retains none of the gameplay or story or not even an F'n SECTOID, it's NOT an XCOM game!

A good strategy game is like X-Com is hard, making an FPS is relatively easy...... guess what we get.

Oh well while it is monolithicly disappointing and really only appears to have the X-Com franchise painfully branded onto it so it will sell a few more copies. It does look like it has some merit as an FPS.

I will admit I would have been more excited if they had announced that they were releasing the original two X-Com(s) on the DS but ...... whatcha gonna do.

LOL! Please list each X-COM game so far, along with the dates they came out. Then let's discuss this "franchise".

Everybody loved the first one, way back in ancient times. The second was okay (just a skin swap of the first, basically). After that, there was a parade of poor to average titles.

It seems really popular to attack this game because it's 'got nothing to do with X-Com'. But TFTD worked just fine and it didn't have any of the old aliens, plus it was set in the damn ocean.

The setting and story means nothing, they just need the premise. And this has that - how can you have an unknown enemy if you're just regurgitating sectoids and snakemen? They're going to have the research and recruiting elements, so that's fine. They've claimed 'base building' is in too, but I've got a feeling that'll just be scripted with story or research progression.

Meanwhile nobody seems to care that they're releasing trailers with gameplay in choppy slideshow mode.

But yeah complain about the gameplay all you want, I'm with you there. Just stop whining about the stuff that doesn't matter.

X-COM: UFO Defense remains one of my favorite all-time games.

This bears zero resemblance to it.

It does, however, look like an extremely generic shooter. So, uh, kudos on the trailer?

I'll pass.

Hey remember that other FPS X-Com game they made? No? That's because it was a huge steaming pile of crap that completely missed all the things that made X-Com special.

Way to go 2k, you picked the right game from the X-Com line to emulate.
