At least they use 5.8GHz wireless. The current 2.2GHz Turtle Beach headset that I have wreaks havoc with my 360 slim wifi.

"none of them should exceed $300"

Well that's good, I can't imagine anyone paying $300 for Xbox headsets. That's just me I guess lol.

What you have there is a microphone. FAR from a headset.

I personally cannot see how a headset cah achieve 7.1 surround sound.......but at $300 I'm too cheap to find out.

@GamingColt Isn't that what my speakers with surround sound and bass are for that all my friends can hear as well? Which doesn't require a headset on me?

Serious question: Does madcatz make quality 3rd party peripherals?

I had one of those third party madcatz gamecube controllers and we used to rock paper scissors it off at the beginning of smash bros matches because it was such a burden to play with and it gave everybody else a massive handicap

These are the new Trittons. Tritton got bought out by MadCatz a year or two ago. They maintained most, if not all, of the members of the separate company. This means that they still have the same people working on these peripherals and MadCatz just puts their name on the corner of the package.

Essentially, yes they do. I own the Tritton AX720's and they work fantastic and i haven't had any issues with them for over a year now. Don't by Turtle Beaches cause they have crappy quality assurance. I had to replace those 5 times in 4 months. Once i had to get them replaced twice in one week.

Personal recommendation: If you ever invest in a true headset, not some silly little microphone, by a warranty. It's usually $20-30 for a two year warranty. I have saved over $1000 by buying a $30 warranty.

No thanks, I like my headsets to work for longer than 3 days. But if MadCatz can shed that stereotype and make a decent peripheral for once, then hey, awesome.

For around $300 I mineswell go big and buy an Astro headset.

Madcatz' junk-quality product reputation doesn't fare well to most. The only thing I have had from them that worked was a ps2 controller and ps1 memory card lol.

This is a Tritton product, in case you didn't see the "double T" logo on the headsets. Madcatz bought them out and they just put their logo on the packaging in the corner. Madcatz maintained the Tritton staff, so this product is quality. I have some Trittons and them have been amazing and they were only $120.

I have friends who have Astro's and they sound the same as my Trittons. These headsets are great for their price. Far better than Turtle Beaches.

The Tritton brand isn't so bad. If the audio quality is close to the Astro A40s I might upgrade to the Warhead simply due to its wire free design because of their partnership with microsoft on this headset. I have the A40 with the original and wireless amp. It's amazing for the most part. I would never consider the Chinese toys Turtle Beach makes but this is interesting.

It sounds like these only work on the 360. My AX720's work with my PS3 and PC also. Why in the world would I want to "upgrade" to a headset that will limit me to what I can use it with?

And then they're all wireless (except the starter headset which probably blows anyway) which is a negative for me. Wireless = batteries and I don't want to have to switch them out every week.

The Warhead comes with two rechargeable battery packs and one stays charging in the base during use at all times. You just swap it out whenever one battery is drained.

That's not too bad then. I'm glad to see that it doesn't use regular batteries like the Turtle Beach wireless headsets used. They use AAA batteries which are very rare in my house. I never have any spare AAA batteries laying around.

I still agree with your points. I'm an A40 user and went with it because quality audio is more important than any other feature but I gotta say, with Tritton partnering with Microsoft to make this headset happen I'm a little interested. I would never settle for those plastic Turtle Beach toys though.

@Anticrawl Are the A40s completely, truly wireless? I have the Tritton 720s right now, and between the huge mess of wires and the abrasive ear coverings, I can barely stand them. These ones look better, but if they don't work with anything besides the Xbox I might just get some Astros. Although, it says they use USB so maybe they do work with others, but I wonder if they aren't fully supported or anything like that.

Audio isn't an accessory... That's like saying a TV shouldn't cost more than a console.

Missing out on the obvious joke there. I know you don't want a war on your head, but you probably also don't want a warhead (i.e. an explosive) on your head. Probably a worse outcome.
