It could be set between 1 and 2 as there was a great decline in heroes during those 500 years. With the burning of the Guild and the need for a new hero in the 2nd.

Just calling a spade a spade ... this game looks awful. They turned Fable into an on rails shooter. Thats a shame.

Have you ever even played Fable? Given that you would probably cut off your balls with a rusty HIV covered knife before even touching a Microsoft product, I find it hard to believe you care if Fable 5 was announced to be a prequel to Gears of War tomorrow.

@R Planteer: Preliminarily speaking: same here. I don't like on rails, but I have to admit, the spellcasting was kind of neat.

How do you know this game is an on rails shooter?

That is a pretty big leap of logic of a steep cliff, my friend.

watching the guy play it, it was obviously on rails. Cant really think of any other way to do a Kinect only RPG.

I am with you...first Fable I don't buy this game looks god awful. Thanks but no thanks. I really like the Kinect but not for this.

Thats where you got it twisted. I had an original xbox and 360. The only Fable I played was the original ... which was overpromised and under delivered. Do I care that MS is watering down the Fable brand to try and have a recognizable first party kinect game in their library? Yes. It's a waste of time and resources that should go to making a proper sequel or something unique and original instead of trying to sell something stupid because of the name. It's even worse than shoe horning functionality into something that isn't necessary ... like using kinect for speaking conversation dialogue in ME3 when the same could be done with a mic. Stuff like the gunsmith controls in GR & head tracking in FM4 are good uses of Kinect functionality in core games while what they did with Fable was on the other end of the spectrum.

It's funny you mentioned Gears because thats the one game that makes me want to go out and buy a 360. I still say to this day that Horde mode is the best co-op experience of all time in gaming. I even bought that Lancer special edition of Gears 2. In fact, the only xbox stuff I still have in my house is a shirt, faceplate and that Gears Lancer.

I guess at the end of the day I don't really like MS as a company but I don't want them watering down established franchises any more than I want to see Sony pimping out Ratchet & Clank, Jak & Daxter & Sly Cooper out to make a shallow mini game for Playstation Move brand recognition.

Did you see the game play demonstrations? It's all kinect with the game moving you through the sequences ... hence the term on rails. You use different magic spells shooting projectiles ... hence the term shooter. You think they would have misrepresented it as an on rails shooter if it was a real Fable game? Call it for what it is. You think it's going to morph into a free roaming controller experience?

I guess I only watched the trailer that was posted here, and I did not see any gameplay in that trailer.

Can you post a link to a video that shows gameplay of an on rails game?

However, how can you or me know what the entire game is from watching a small snippet of gameplay? Maybe that was just a small sequence you got to see.
