Far Cry 3 trailer touches down, gets tied up, and left for dead

Remember that Far Cry 3 trailer we were all excited about from Ubisoft's E3 2011 press conference? It turns out that, ahead of Ubisoft officially releasing it, one intrepid YouTuber has snagged it and thrown it online. Thankfully, it wasn't tied to a rock before being thrown into the internet.

Far Cry 2 was great. Map editor was fantastic, and multiplayer was actually OK. It'll be unfortunate if it doesn't incorporate at least *some* of what made that sequel good.

My brother played a lot of Far Cry 2 and it looked really good despite all the fans' bitching. I had NO idea what this trailer was for while watching it but I thought it looked really awesome (a couple janky animations aside). Gonna keep my eye on this.

Choppers get taken down by RPGs so often in video games, you should get an achievement for having the foresight to NOT jump onto one.

I really really like the animation. Mainly how the guy was using his body and hands to talk. Often in games people just stand like blank statues while talking and it really bugs me some times.

I really hope they keep the health system from the second game, it was nearly perfect.

This actually looked really good. I wasn't expecting an actual good script after playing Crysis. I like the animation too. Definitely looking out for this.

@MittenFace Following the Ubi/Crytek split shortly after the first Farcry was released, Farcry has NOT been produced by EA/Crytek.

Crysis and Far Cry aren't made by the same people. After Far Cry 1 the rights were given to Ubisoft. Crytech hasn't been involved with Far Cry for quite awhile now.

That was amazing. Especially the stealth kills and the knife through

The graphics are pretty nice. Hope they "tighten" them up a bit, It's kind of insulting to play a game that doesn't have realistic body damage. I mean, come on, Soldier of Fortune had tech that surpasses many games currently as far as that goes.

I want to know what happens next!!! argghhhh!!!! haha.
Anyway, I've only played the first Farcry game and passed on Farcry 2. haha. Now, I'm probably getting me back some Farcry again. :) The trailer is so interesting. Definitely under my radar.

Looks pretty cool but whats with the score system? This isn't multiplayer.

Lookin' good so far. Here's to hoping that they allow you to disable all those pop-up score display things (which seems likely enough) and that they keep things realistic when it comes to being shot and shooting (liked the tactical reload thing they showed, for example, and that enemies actually died when being shot instead of completely ignoring bullet wounds a la Far Cry 2).
Script does indeed sound very, very good so far.

Am I really the only one that's going to mention that this is one of if not THE scariest gaming character's EVER???

Sad that they are sticking to the "there is hud" version of far cry.

if that is running on 360 then i cant wait to see pc footage. it looks a extremely different from far cry 2, but while i liked far cry 2, i dont think it is a bad thing.

I'm kinda scared to pick this up. I didn't like how the second one came out. This actually looks a lot better though.

"Press A" repeatedly. Nothing says "skills" like pounding on an Xbox controller button repeatedly.
The graphics will look good for consoles, but will be watered down by weak console hardware and be plagued by terrible framerates and DX9.
The stealth kills look pretty awesome, but very automated and scripted. Less script, more skill please.
Otherwise I think this game will probably be pretty fun -- but I'd really like to see some PC footage and maybe hear about some DX11 support.

Adding DX11 is certainly within reason (requires a new rendering pipeline but is doable in a reasonable time by a talented group of devs, and I'm sure Ubi Montreal has a good number of talented devs). Ubisoft certainly has the resources to do so, it's just a matter of if they care enough to do so. They could add it post-release like how The Creative Assembly did with Shogun 2: Total War, but the effects of tessellation are best when the art is designed with that feature in mind.

All I ask is no respawning enemies every 1.5 minutes like in Far Cry 2. Or just not so much on the bullet-sponge side. One or the other (or both) would be a much more pleasant way to slay. Though this looks like it might be taking the best things from 1 & 2 for the perfect mix.
