Good stuff. I'm driving a lot tomorrow so it's good to know I will still have a few "hrm"s to listen to.

@TaintedKane - When you play the game of E3, you either win, or you die.

You have no idea how much I have missed a Joystiq podcast/show of some sort. My Friday afternoons or Monday mornings seem just a bit more empty without some audio Joystiq.

@Courtney Since the podcast stopped, I have literally been diagnosed with ADD and become medicated. Look what you monsters are doing to us!

I'm waiting to hear podcast reactions to whatever Wii U is. The idea of a new (five year) console that barely matches the current consoles in strength (if it even does, according to posts I'm seeing) is crazy to me. I thought Nintendo was going to leapfrog Sony and Microsoft, and be the first company to go truly next-gen. I can't figure out what their strategy is to convert current Wii players, and disillusioned hardcore players. They announced a bunch of hardcore games, but those games will have been out for the other consoles for a year by the time this thing makes it to market.

Thanks for the podcast guys.

@BananaBoat I'm thinking the same sort of thing. A lot of my friends have been raving about it on facebook how they're "catering to hardcore fps players" and "going to obliterate this generation", but it seems really iffy even this early. All the "hardcore" gamers will already have PCs and PS3s and 360s, so there'll be no reason for them to get this. That's even ignoring the crazy controller. If PC elitists make fun of consoles for using regular controllers, what will they think of this mess?

@TheDarkWayne - I don't know what to make of that controller. It seems expensive to manufacture, unwieldy to hold (especially for kids), and just an odd idea in general. Why would anyone want to look down at a screen, when they are playing on a big TV? I just don't get it. It surfs the web, and makes video calls...but is Nintendo's infrastructure going to be good enough to make either of those attractive? Do people even video chat?

The Wii worked with casuals largely due to the fact that it was a remote, and they could semi-intuitively figure out how to use it. This touch screen monstrosity looks extremely complicated, and I can just imagine my parents or grandparents trying to figure out how to use it.

@BananaBoat

Believe it or not, the controller is one of the few things I'm rather intrigued by. I can imagine interesting, useful and innovative uses for a controller like that. I do have a gigantic amount of doubt that anyone will actually use it well though.

@Courtney - I was kind of wowed by the Zelda demo, where the controller had the same video feed going, with controls overlaid. I could see them doing special control schemes (like for a mech game) on that controller, or something like that.

Whether or not anyone will take advantage of it is yet to be seen. I fear that after the next Xbox and PS3 come out, the Wii U will get crappy ports, just like the Wii, because it doesn't have enough power to keep up with the new gen.

Its sooo good to hear all your voices again! (i still miss dave/sly/luddy).

Cant wait to hear what you guys think of the new Nintendo console. I laughed the whole time because I think its not gonna take off. They got all the "casual" gamers excited with the wii... and now they want the hard core? well, they missed the boat. Im sticking with my 360 thank you very much!

The only thing I think I disagreed with you guys on is Overdrive. I watched the trailer for that and got psyched. Sure there are lots of shooters, but how many 4-player co-op shooters with humor are there? To me, this looks like Insomniac is trying to marry Left 4 Dead to Team Fortress. There are few games like that.
