@Timjoy
+1 for you, sir.
As for KOF, let me sum up the plot in one quote:

"This year's KOF was a front for (insert nefarious scheme - cloning, drugs, corruption money, etc)? *surprised gasp, even after 10 years of this* ...You're going down, tyro!"

@foxhound You haven't been paying a lick of attention, then. Cloning was just part of the goofy-as-hell NESTS storyline ('99-'01). Everything else has been weird, Japanese-oriented mysticism... most of which is barely ever touched on in the games themselves.

Mai's back?

Kleenex might have to revise their forecast for the coming quarter, because I see a sudden sales spike occurring in or around October.

@Rollins. "Coming quarter" lol. Mai isn't a real girl you perv! For godsa...oh man...look at those things.....*stops bitching and runs to bathroom* In all seriousness I wish KOF could get a larger budget behind it and more advertising dollars. Its a great series and the classics could stand to be rereleased on xbla and psn.

So.. are they going to have a bunch of empty character slots that will never be filled until they release next year's version?

I'm still feeling burned from KOFXII -- how could you leave out K' but put in Ash?

Man... I ever how much I love Atlus?

Shin Megami, Growlanser, Disgaea, Magna Carta, Rule of Rose, Odin Sphere, izuna, Riviera, Catherine, Demon's Souls, 3D Dot Game Heroes. They thankfully connect me to Japan with all the wonderful things that others think aren't worth releasing here.

I wish I was more excited, but truth be told KoF did not evolve well in the last few years. Meanwhile other series came back to form (Street Fighter, Tekken, Virtua Fighter) and some new ones entered the fight (Blazblue, which is just awesome).

Too bad, since I really loved the series back in the day (99 was fantastic). But I still hope it's a great game, as it should be, and that the future have good things stored for SNK.

The good news is that Atlus localizations are always great.

@Dashx747
Agreed. My brother and I used to be huge KOF(well, SNK as a whole)fans during the "Orochi Saga" years, but it just kinda descended into "meh-mediocrity" from that point on. Even with MAXIMUM IMPACT, the series needs a serious kick-in-the-ass boost. Hell, it worked for STREET FIGHTER IV...

...And SNK, you could really capitalize on the whole MMA craze by releasing an updated 3D fighter remake of BURIKI ONE. Especially since there's so many cage-ready fighters in your character list(not just Ryo Sakazaki of AOF/KOF/FF fame). I would day-one purchase that in a heartbeat.

KOF 2003 is among the most brilliant and fun fighters of the last decade IMO. It's a shame they cut out a lot of what made it so great in Neowave, XI, XII, and XIII.

Already been burned on the last KOF title. Online that never, never worked.

Thanks but this is a big pass unless I see a huge online community happen.

This is one of the few remaining franchises that still makes me act like a kid again when I hear a new one is coming. Hell, XII wasn't worth the 60 bucks I paid for it but I still loved it, it was like old times with my friends and I sitting in front of the flat screen acting like idiots over simple 2d sprites. Since then, I've dabbled in Blaz Blue, Street fighter and MvC3... but Kof will always be the franchise that made me fall in love with fighting games.

I'm glad they're ditching the New Coke strategy and just giving us what the hell we want. No Mai and no K' = no buy for me.

I never liked the new artstyle that much. Not to mention how awfully pixelated it looked on KOFXII...

This series could really use a reboot ala SF4 and MK.

@Cafecito The pixelated look was because of the zoomed-in approach they took. No more of that, this time around.

I'm all for them bringing the game over, but what's with acting like Mai, Yuri and King are surprises? The game's been out in Japanese arcades for ages. Barring any new, console-exclusive additions, here's the roster:

Ash
Shen Woo - Elisabeth Branctorche - Duo Lon
Benimaru Nikaido - Kyo Kusanagi - Goro Daimon
Andy Bogard - Terry Bogard - Joe Higashi
Sie Kensou - Athena Asamiya - Chin Gentsai
Ralf Jones - Leona - Clark Still
Yuri Sakazaki - Mai Shiranui - King
Mature - Iori Yagami - Vice
Robert Garcia - Ryo Sakazaki - Takuma Sakazaki
Hwa Jai - Kim Kap Hwan - Raiden
Kula Daimond - K' - Maxima

Then the bosses. A "boss form" of Ash and a nasty called "Saiki."

In the arcade version of KOFXII, the English text and voices were already completed and accessible via a soft dipswitch. I suspect KOFXIII is no different.

Whew, I had pretty much given up on this game coming to the US, but Atlus saves the day! Cannot wait!

Too bad they will not be adding anything extra to what there already is for the Arcade and JP versions.
