Doesn't that depend on the online gaming? Something they neglected to touch on

They forgot to touch on a lot of things... Online I'm the most concerned about. Nintendo needs to have a compelling online/social network or "hardcore" gamers will buy it and forget about it, just like the Wii. Its exciting that hardcore 3rd party games are coming out for Wii U, however, Nintendo will fail in a big way if it doesn't deliver online.

Hmm... using it be able to play games on a portable screen is very cool. That golf example where you put it not he floor is kind of neat at first, but ultimately seems pointless. And all the examples where hold it up in front of your TV seem terrible.

Yeah the golf one more so because it required you to put your new controller on the ground and swing with a separate wii mote. I don't know many people willing to do that for some golf.

But it should be very accurate. With the Wiimote passing over the sensor right at the spot the ball is at, it will get a perfect idea of amount of spin, speed, and accuracy on the hit.

I love the idea of a touch screen controller :)

This opens so many possibilities, I hope developers use this the right way, rather than abandoning the system's key innovation after the first wave or two of games (*coughcoughDStouchscreenfeaturesandWiiremotefunctionalitycoughcough*)

.... you must be sticking to one genre, seeing that a ton of them STILL use touch screen rather well.

I don't support leaving my controllers on the ground, even if it is awesomely related to golf.

But they were right about "Coming to your living room in 2012". Hopefully with that awesome-looking Zelda game. It'll go nice next to my shiny new PS VITA.

I'm thinking of a lot of ways that this could be used to bring some great DS ideas to a high-powered home console setting. Like Scribblenauts or that game where you draw magic. Of course, I can't wait for the traditional fare with more graphical firepower, but swiping your finger across it to cut someone's throat, or moving it like a shield to block bullets or a sword also sounds like a lot of fun. Be creative and crazy, devs, that's all I ask.

Ok so they have been saying how you can only use one controller per console, but how would that work with the baseball game they showed? You use the new controller to throw your pitch, and then right after that you use the controller to catch the ball. What are you supposed to do, pass the controller to whomever you are playing with? ahhhh

It's baseball. Your team pitches the ball, the man from the other team hits the ball, then your men try to catch it.

Definately a lot of potential here. Hopefully publishers take advantage and don't just leave the thing to just displaying inventory.

This video does raise a couple uestions and issues though. The drawing part looked cool so hopefully it works as well as the Udraw tablet.

Using it for Wii fit seems very practical for quick weigh ins but does the fit board have to be constantly sinked up to the system like it does for the regular Wii? Because as the current Wii Fit is, the board syncs up as the fourth controller which is annoying because it unsyncs whenever you have friends over and play a four player game. Also only one can be used at a time so no multiplay fitness or balance games. Hopefully Nintendo allows for more controllers this time to be synced up and allows for more than one balance board.

The gun attachment seemed like a neat idea but I don't see the point of pointing the screen at another screen to shoot, its looks like its just zooming in. It would be better if it had a rear camera for AR shooting games like people have made with smartphones.

Also since Wii Remotes are usable does that mean the classic controller is also usable? I would assume so but I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere yet. I would imagine way more developers would put in classic controller options with the WiiU since the tablet controller has all of those buttons anyways.

Also have they said how many tablet controllers it will support and how many total controllers it will support? I think I have only seen pics and videos showing one tablet controller at a time with Wiimotes. Everyone is freaking out about the controller price but Nintendo is giving the impression that they don't expect you to by another one.

This looks great. I love the controller, and am anxiously awaiting to hear some more details, like specifics on online functionality.

Though, I must say, I didn't think it was possible to come up with a worse name for a piece of consumer electronics than Wii.

Wii U? Ugh.

It's like Nintendo locked various pronouns in a Twitter-based Thunderdome Deathmatch and forced them to kill each other until only two remained victorious.

Or it's the University where Dr. Mario recently received tenure. Either way, it's a f*cking horrendous moniker.

I think this has a lot of potential. If Nintendo can deliver with their first-party, which they always do, and if 3rd party can keep the good stuff coming with unique features that utilize the controller, I think this could be a great product

If Nintendo does this right, I might finally buy my first Nintendo console since the N64. What worries me is that Sony and Microsoft might announce their next gen consoles a year or two after the Wii U is released, then Nintendo will be on generation behind(in terms of graphics) again. :(

Hopefully this new console will appeal to the core gamer. The Zelda HD gameplay footage was pretty neat. If this takes off, you can be sure Microsoft and Sony will follow suit with their own iteration of Wii U's controller.

The most interesting aspect of that observation will be placing bets as to when Sony will claim that they actually invented this idea first and how long they've had it in development for.

I remember when you could buy a new Nintendo system for $200. Now it looks like you will be paying $200 just for the controller for this system.

@jamesFF lies. Nintendo consoles ALWAYS cost over 200 dollars at launch. Also. the controller itself doesnt need heavy specs...it streams data from the console, streaming data doesnt require that much power.....especially if you're streaming it from a source a few feet away. Even then, decent processors and graphics card that could fit into osmething like that would enable them to stream data flawlessly probably cost them next to nothing. Nintendo arnt fools, they know how much people are willing to spend.

Hmm... Could you imagine a Horror game that used the speaker to whisper to get your attention. And the camera to monitor your head movement till you were looking at it. Then BAM! Grotesque zombie flashes on the screen scaring the crap out of you! lol

Or using it for peripheral vision to look at things to the side of you without moving the main screen.
