Sorry to comment jack, but here's a link to the youtube version for those that want to view it in 1080p (I don't believe the viddler videos support 1080p?)

@F1shBone I don't know what everyone else watched. I saw a tank driving in a straight line with nothing happening for 2 and a half minutes. Once something finally happened it looked like any other game where you can drive a tank. Well their was the highlight of pointing a recital at a target from an overhead view, that's exciting.
Having said that I'm still probably gonna buy the game solely for multiplayer. Although I'm very concerned it could be watered down due to the focus on single player. Why are the supporters of this game so blinded that they think this video was exciting. The only thing notable in it is the graphics, and we still have no idea what its running on. don't expect the ps3 and xbox versions to look anything like this.

@Evin I think they showed this level to prove a point - the COD series does not have vehicular combat.

Basically this. They wanted to showcase the variety in the game. Besides, I thought the set up was very atmospheric and tense. Which is a great accomplishment for a modern military FPS. The graphics, sound, and animation looked and sounded so crisp. Not to mention the effects like the smoke. Also, it had dinosaurs. I'm really surprised people found it boring.

Really excited for this, beautiful environment and the destruction of those watch-towers really shows off the power and use of Frostbite 2.

This is the very reason why I'm going to get the game on the PC platform. The huge maps with badass vehicles such as the tanks, fighter jets, helicopters and other assorted vehicles, is going to blow people away. It is rumored that the game will have maps even bigger than those in Battlefield 2, and believe me, some of the Battlefield 2 maps was pretty big.
The graphics just seem unreal. Everything from the smoke, to the distant landscape seems incredibly detailed and well made. The animations look superb. The sound seems awesome, and it even looks like they are going back to their Battlefield roots with this title.
Can't wait to play Strike at Karkand on this new game engine with 64 players and full chaos! It will kick ass.

not personally at you but can we please cut the sh!t with the BF3 and how PC will have teh graphics. Give PC a lead platform and they go bananas. You realize we're all going to get the same game. the PS3 vs. 360 fanboys realized that a long time ago.

I stopped being a PC gamer after I fried my HD 4870 a few years ago. I was at my cousins last weekend playing CoD:BO on his PC (AMD 6-core @4.5GHz + GTX 570 OC'd) and it was like a whole 'nother game! Not just because there's more people in a map, but everyone was active. It was intense and people actually played the objective modes correctly. Then there were a bunch of crazy mods like roll the dice, which were pretty fun. All of this on a 120Hz screen was epic. It made me a believer in PC games again. I keep my PS360 around, but all my hardcore FPS will be on PC from now on. I'll see you on Steam :)

"You realize we're all going to get the same game."
That isn't entirely true. Console multiplayer has a maximum of 32 players where PC has a max of 64 (which will be modded to allow even more). The way Battlefield 2 worked, the maps got larger depending on the number of people, so the multiplayer maps are probably twice as large also (just a theory though).

@PR0F3TA while PS3 and X360 versions will give an amazing experience both for gameplay and amazing physics and graphics, there's NO DENIAL that BF3 will (at the very least) look a whole lot better in a PC. Why?? something as simple as Frostbite 2 Engine will take full advantage of DX11 capabilities, something that is impossible on nowadays consoles.
Gameplaywise, bigger maps and more players?? count me in!

Same engine yes. but the consoles will not have all the engine features enabled that the PC will.
PC gamers are excited because it plays to the systems strengths, as opposed to just getting the lowest common denominator experience.

Console will get the shitty graphics version(s)
They won't have as much people on each map
They will be no dedicated servers guaranteed
FPS were made for Mouse and Keyboard so shooting will be much more enjoyable
Get your head out of your ass, Battlefield was made for PC and will be1000x better on it.

@Drybones5 Perhaps not a 1000x better, but one would have to be unfamiliar with the history of the series to not see that the PC-version will be best. There is absolutly no good arguments that point towards the conclusion that the console versions will provide as good an experience as the PC-version. You have already pointed out some of the reasons. Also, the PC-platform supports the use of joysticks, and Battlefield 3 will probably do that as well. Flying a helicopter or jetplane with a gamepad or mouse and keyboard is great enough. But flying the jet or helicopter with a proper joystick is just that much greater.

Can't wait for this game! My only problem is I usually don't like spending a nice amount of money on the same type of games. But I also want modern warfare 3, gears of war 3, and ghost recon (all shooters). Although gears feels a lot different than the rest. So maybe I won't count that one.

Welcome to yesterday's news. And boring? This was one of the best videos to come out of E3.
Posted: Jun 8th 2011 1:10PM szimm said
Yes, the Joystiq staff needs explosions, buttrock, and crappy macho talk every five seconds to keep their interest. The rest of us play Battlefield 3.
Posted: Jun 8th 2011 2:25PM Evin said
@szimm Are you guys really that blind to how boring this was in terms of something to show off during a conference? No one on the staff is a CoD fanboy. No one's saying it's a bad game. This just wasn't a good level to demo.
Let's not forget how we (including the stafff) loved that other piece of BF3 campaign gameplay..

@Evin Notice how I didn't even mention CoD in my post - you drew that comparison yourself, based on the words "buttrock" and "macho oneliners"... In fact, I was merely contrasting the BF3 tank level to the typical vertical slice demo, where there is an explosion or cinematic action shot around every corner. I appreciate the BF3 demo for keeping integrity and holding it's subject matter to a higher standard, while knowing the importance of building up tension by combining quiet sections with action parts.
I am not trying to call anyone out as a "fanboy" here - you put those words in my mouth. I'm simply saying, that I highly disagree about this being a boring demo - it held my attention better than any of the hollywood style demos, because as soon as I see that formulaic editing and balls out type of showing, my brain immediately shuts it out. Those are the demos that are boring to me.

It still amazes me how they thought it would be a good idea to show this snorefest of a trailer...
Maybe it's just because tanks are not my favorite but there are many more exciting things they could have shown. Like multilayer!

Visually it looks great, but it could be from any Medal of Duty Special Modern Black Ops game.
Need to see the multiplayer. It's overdue for some actual gameplay and feature news. After all that's why you play a BF game because it's multiplayer that makes it a BF game.

While I don't really have an opinion on BF3 vs MW3, "snoozefare" was a poor choice of words here when comparing that the MW3 E3 demo was crazy intense set-pieces and the BF3 was rolling through the desert quietly for 6 minutes before anything happened.

True, tank gameplay may not be more exciting than attacking a submarine, but BF3 had ALREADY revealed 12 minutes of exciting footage before E3. And that was more than just shoot, reload, grenade, watch AI teammate do something cool, knife kill, end of demo.
