I really need to play the first one. I've heard it's a pretty underrated game.

Same here, especially since I haven't bought a console since my ps2/gc so I should prolly play the titles I missed out on.

I played it when it came out. I didn't think it was particularly amazing, but it certainly wasn't bad. It was, of course, a very polished game that to me just felt like a solid B. If it's your type of thing you'll certainly love it, otherwise you might find it's just okay, as I did.

I found it to be a lot of fun; definitely something you should try before you buy though. If you can rent/buy the original then you'll have a pretty good idea of what you're getting in the sequel- it sounds very similar.

I loved it myself. I've been reading excellent previews on other sites for this. I'm guessing if one didn't care fore the original, they won't care for a sequel.

@CamisadoRush It totally is! I finally got to play through it this year and I was shocked at how creative and original it was. Luigi's Mansion 2 is at the top of my hype list right now.

Totally underrated. It's a great game, the only con I found it was it is short. But graphics, music, gameplay, atmosphere, everything is high-level (or should I say Nintendo level?).

This is my favorite GCN game second only to RE4. I can't wait for this. Even if nothing much is added, I will probably still love the heck out of this.

I remember having some minor fps issues in the original as well. It wasn't annoying though.

It has to be better than the first one, right? Right?

I remember this game getting a pretty lukewarm reception, so I'm surprised to see a sequel. That said, it's nice to see Nintendo continue an IP that isn't simply Mario, Zelda, or Metroid. (Though it is technically a Mario spinoff)

I would rather have Luigi's Mansion 2 for the Wii U and not the 3DS...on both would be optimal..

@LarZen same here but im just happy that this is finally happening , i think this the highlight of E3 for me being that it was a game that ive been wanting to come out forever and seriously didnt expect it to ever happen

I don't trust this preview, because I doubt Griffin spent enough time with the game.

Yeh that's right, a Month-old new reference :P

Luigi's Mansion just wasn't Mario.

That was probably the main reason for the lukewarm reception. The game itself is a solid game, but just not what people were expecting for a launch.

@mrmobius

Well, after Super Mario World and Super Mario 64, gamers had come to expect a sprawling, epic adventure from Nintendo's EAD-developed launch titles.

Lord knows, I was.

I was really disappointed with the criminally short length of Luigi's Mansion, as I had just plunked down over four hundred dollars on a GameCube launch bundle. I remember it arriving at my house on the Friday before it was supposed to be released, and psyching myself up for a long weekend of Luigi-awesomeness.

I beat it Saturday morning.

It was fun, and the gameplay had a lot of potential, but there wasn't really any replay value to speak of. I ran through the game one more time to see if I could get a better mansion, but that was about it.

I've been waiting for years for Nintendo to revisit the property, hoping that they'd take the same basic gameplay model and embellish the content a bit.

And here we are...with all this talk of multiple mansions, it seems LM2 will be a lot beefier than its predecessors.

As for the somewhat lackluster screenshots and apparent frame rate issues, I'll chalk it up to being, like, ten months away from release.

And besides, after playing Next Level's Punch-Out!!!, I'm keeping the faith.

I still get the music from the original stuck in my head sometimes. I just loved how Luigi would silently hum along with the music as he crept around the mansion.

Great game, now I feel like playing the original again.

Nintendo commited a terrible mistake by not integrating at least a tegra 2 chip instead of the underpowered PICA200.

Just to give you an idea. The Tegra 2 has 4 pixel AND 4 vertex cores while the PICA200 has 4 vertex cores which can be used also as 4 pixel cores.

Now if Nintendo would've coupled that with at least a Snapdragon CPU, Luigi would be gliding through the mansion.

Well, that certainly clears things up.

@(Unverified) Of course, there is the small fact that the game isn't even finished, optimized, or slated for release until 2012.

Ahhh, Luigi's Mansion.... good times, good times.

The first one scare the shot out of me at times, but I remedied it by making Luigi run in circles shouting "Maro!" over and over.

I want this sequel.

I loved the first one, but it was too short. I am excited that this game will have several mansions instead of just one.

I wonder what the updated Game Boy Horror will be

I was interested in how this controls on the 3DS. Guess I'll look elsewhere.

I heard years ago that Nintendo didn't want to do an epic Luigi game, similar to Mario, because they (Nintendo) didn't want Luigi to outshine Mario.
