I think it looks pretty good but i want to see some gameplay. Is this an MMO or single player?

@Prince David
I think the official word is they are scaling back from MMO to just MO, although as it is DnD it would be a MORPG just not a MMORPG.

Tune in at 6 for more acronyms.

They ( meaning Cryptic ) are calling it an Online Multiplayer Game ( OMG ) ( I feel ill stating that ) Basically you'll buy the game , play for free on their server and use their C-Store. It'll be interesting to see if they'll charge you to use the mission designer ? Knowing Cryptic/PW and Atari , probably. Probably you need to play for additional content as well , in like the Turbine model.

@Prince David

In an interview with MaximumPC.co the Cryptic chief operating officer said "It's not an MMO in the sense that there aren't zones with hundreds-and-hundreds of people. You are not fighting for spawns. There's a very strong storyline throughout the game. So it's more of a story-based game closer to things like Dragon Age or Oblivion, which we really try to follow."

What about the Alienware on the sides? That extend below their graphic? So that it blends in with the joystiq background. What a cheap way of getting clicks. Screw Alienware!

@ReadingRambo Agreed, you'd think ever day could be at least a different Ad so we don't have to see the same one over and over.

Alienware - when you really want to spend a $1,500 premium over the price of the parts for an alien head on your case.

@ReadingRambo Dude, FireFox + AdBlock Plus = No Ads. I don't see any of the junk ads. I DO, however, see the Alienware thing, and that's a bit tedious.

I surf a lot at work. (Yeah, I know). And we can't install add-ons.

Hmm, I've got Firefox + AdBlock and it blocks whatever Alienware ad you are talking about for me. All I ever see is whatever they tack on to the start of the videos. Otherwise, the entire site is ad-free.

You could also pay $2000 over the price for a mac then buy a $5 sticker of an alien head.

Why did that magic person wait to turn invisible until after the guards had already passed by? That's just bad practice

@TheDarkWayne She was listening in on the distant guards idle chatter and it required all of her focus to do so. Because of this she did not have her invisibility cloak on just yet. And all the sudden a guard walks passed her and caused her to panic -- quickly regaining composure she cloaked in hopes she wasnt caught.

Or because it looked cooler.

I wonder if/when development of this is going to change hands, since Atari owns the rights to D&D games (last time I checked) and they just booted Cryptic out of the nest.

@darkinchworm

Dunno could be that there is already a contract signed for Cryptic for this game. Also just because Atari dumped Cryptic as an in house dev studio doesn't automatically prevent it from publishing its content later. (although it would seem less than likely)

If Atari pulled the license now, they might have to back pay for development that has gone on so far to PW / Cryptic, which would be a bit funny given that they paid for it the first time anyways.

Whatever happens, I am sure the lawyers will win.

Yeah, whatever contracts there are surely bind them in some way, I'm just curious if that's through the entirety of development or to a certain date/milestone/whatever. Guess we'll wait and see.

I like Neverwinter, but truth be told the D&D games I loved the most were the ones on the good old Infinity Engine: Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale and, of course, Planescape: Torment, which is my favorite game of all time (ok, I might consider Fallout 1/2 as a contender).

But still, high hopes for this one. I believe it's online, so I might convince some of my Dungeons and Dragons Online friends to try it out too.

I don't have any hopes for the MMO mill that is Cryptic.

Seriously all of their MMOs are exactly the same in a different setting. Just cash grabs IMO.

Hopefully this will turn out as a better use of the Forgotten Realms name than Daggerdale. I've read the first book of RA Salvatore's Neverwinter Trilogy that this is sort of linked to, so I'm hoping it turns out well.

Oh boy,Cryptic ! It's going to be C-store to win . All you need to do is play the last (trying not to gag ) MMO's to see what this one will be. Even the trailer reminds me of the CO trailer. So Atari is distrubting the game , having just sold Cryptic to Perfect World. This is a disaster in the making . Atari's treatment of Turbine was interesting , Cryptic's should be even better. To top it off Perfect World owns Cryptic now which should push the C-Store to new hieghts. I hope people who chose to play this game aren't to closely attached to their money.

This is NOT going to0 be an MMO. I recall the only interview Massively did with Jack Emmert about this, and they said it was the last because the title was NOT going to be an MMO.

So, I have higher hopes for it than Champions and another C-Store debacle

@Monitor2112 Yeah , yeah the idiot called it an OMG, where you go to there servers and pay to use the C-Store for stuff. How will that be different then STO and CO ? For the most part they are PvE game. STO has 1.5 factions. You really can't call CO and STO MMO's but they did.

Why was Crypic given this title to develop? seriously WTF. If they make it amazing, I will eat my words, but from the let downs of CO and STO, I just don't see anything amazing coming from this company. I do hope they make this game fantastic and can put themselves back up there as a solid developer, here's to hope.

They can churn out all the fancy videos they want, but if it's Cryptic on the box then there is no way in hell i will ever buy it. I made that mistake once with the piece of garbage they passed off as Star Trek Online, never again.
