terrible review, the game isn't unbalanced at all... yes the twins are top tier, but they are beatable and not as good as vanilla sagat. The reviewer just seems like he read a bunch of scrubs complain on srk and took that as the general consensus.

@(Unverified) You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Capcom themselves admitted the game is unbalanced because Super Street Fighter IV was too balanced. Do your research instead of being a troll.

Did you really just say this game was balanced and THEN mention that certain characters better than others?

@(Unverified) actually Unverified is right. The characters are well balanced save for a few goofs. While Yun is top tier, the player has to be at the top of his game and know his stuff to be successful. He is good because he can pressure and mix you up for days. While he is excellent at the best aspects of rushdown, he is not godly and he does have a very poor life bar and stun bar. He does have his counter-character matchups.

It's very sad to see when people have no idea what they're talking about get voted up and Unverified get voted down simply because he is posting anonymous. What he says should matter as much as someone who made an account.

When even the absolute top players in the field of fighting games are complaining about the twins, the unnecessary nerfs and the overall gimped balance changes, I don't think people are just listening to "scrubs on SRK".

Whom I'd like to point out that the majority of those "scrubs" still know more about the game than you.

This year's NHL 12 was too realistic, so we made the Minnesota Wild the best team in the game.

Mr. Miyamoto thought Super Mario Galaxy 2 was just too close to perfection, so he's having Gameloft take the helm on the Wii U entry.

Bethesda thought the PC version of Skyrim looked too good, so they purposefully introduced some bottlenecks in the graphics pipeline.

I could go on...

Even if that statement was said, it's one of the stupider things I've heard.

4 new characters for $12 seems like a pretty good deal to me, considering they're selling 1 character for $8 in MvC3.

Amen sibling. What did Ono say just before the launch of SF IV? Something to the effect of "We will not be producing just a bunch of upgrades like we did with SF II."
Sorry, I know it's not an exact quote but everything about Street Fighter today is a brazen cash grab.
I guess it's my fault for expecting Capcom to not be Capcom.

I hated SF4. Never gave Super a shot, not planning on giving AE a shot either. I just don't like the fighting engine or the mechanics. The only SF games I dislike more than 4 would be the EX editions.

If you want balanced SF nowadays, the only option you have is HDR. 3SO should be fairly balanced, I don't recall anything absurd in 3 other than players who learned how to parry everything, but that's a part of the game (and 2 high level parry players turns out to be quite a good chess match).

@zero2dash Capcom said they would not be doing any balancing to the game (3rd strike online), and last time I checked Urien, Ken and Chun Li were very well in top of the others.

Then again, not just because you choose those characters you'll be immediatley godlike in the game.

@zero2dash You're going into an even worse situation in 3SO. It's also dominated by Yun, Chun-Li, Makoto, etc. Yun happens to be top tier in SSFIV:AE and Makoto is up there too. What I recommend to people is don't worry about the character balancing, play the game, learn your matchups and beat the player.

@chrisredfield31 Yeah, on SF3O you'd be dealing with Ken, Chun, Yun, and Yang, although they don't exactly dominate over some of the other characters. The only one I can think of that's just kind of derpy is 12.

Also, I'm pretty sure Makoto is lower tier on the SSF4AE. She has the dubious honor of being one the only 3rd Strike characters to translate poorly.

@Red Runner Well, except for the #1 street fighter player in the world playing Yun, and the fact that both Yun and Yang are in the top 3 alongside Fei Long. SO I'd say a lot of people are going to like them quite a lot.

It seems to me Capcom decided to purposefully engineer an army of Yuns to make people learn their characters so well that they can even make Yun look like vanilla Dan...whether or not it was a good choice, or if it will work, time will tell. It has inspired me to learn every single thing about Gouken, as I think he can handle them with some patience and two smart reads.

Which is hilarious. They play 6v6 and ban classes in a game designed for 24v24. They complain about balance when they play a game in a way it was never meant to be played.

The game received drastic balancing issues with the update but not to the extent to be unplayable like the reviewer claims it to be.

The twins are "beatable", while most characters considered top tiers in SSF4 received considerable nerfs like Guile and Honda, others who were low tiers like Dee Jay and Makoto have got well received buffs while Sagat ,T.Hawk and Ken became better too.

Lastly, the balances are not very noticeable unless you know your stuff and play high level. So I really think the reviewer is being too dramatic.

Yes Ono admitted that he deliberately unbalanced AE, the result being that only a handful of fighters are competitive at the highest level of player skill. SF3 was also like this, but it had the advantage of a more complex system and a higher skill cap.

The consensus is that (assuming both players are equally skilled) once Yun starts his mixup/pressure game, almost every character in the game is at a significant disadvantage with a very low chance of breaking out of it. Even Daigo can go on losing streaks against other top players if he ends up getting hit first.in a Yun vs Yun match.

so waht else is new?

fighting games can never be fully balanced. Its a Megaman chart, some characters are weaker towards some and invincible against others.

Adon is impossible to beat with Zangief, and T-Hawk is the bane of a lot of fighters.

I won't buy AE for other reasons...mainly because its a rip-off

My main problem is that this patch makes all the characters I use worse. I'm basically playing for them to make my characters harder to use. I main Vega and sub Rose.

I never really played as the twins but always thought they should be apart of the cast its disheartening to me to see that so many know SF players are dropping their characters and picking up the twins based solely on feeling that their character can't put up a good enough fight against them.

You know its telling when Diago drops Ryu to use the twins.

This review is a joke. Almost all of the characters got buffs and the ones that got nerfs make sense. Cammy not being about to TK regular canon strikes is the worst one I can think of and I think its a good change. Yeah, the Twins are ridiculous but they are beatable. They are also pretty difficult to use if you really want to play them right so I think its an almost even trade. Did the reviewer even bother to read all the development notes and character changes Capcom put out or did they just go into "this game isn't balanced because I'm getting my ass kicked" mode?

This is without a doubt the worst review I've ever read. This game is more balanced than ever. Also how are you complaining with Oni and Evil Ryu? Evil Ryu and Shin Akuma (A variation of Oni) have been staples with the series since Alpha. They are very interesting and in grounded within the series. In a game where there's a green, orange haired, electric monster they aren't far fetched. You clearly have no idea what in the hell you're talking about. Kick Rocks Homie.
