And they thought DmC: Devil May Cry was gonna change just because Dante got a haircut -- and a dye job when the devil trigger goes off. SHAME ON THEM!

@wcarnation, all this just because how the character looks?
I'm actually excited for this game, what I have seen so far is promising, and I have faith in Ninja Theory and the hard work they put in the games they develop.
Hopefully for people who get bothered so much by Dante's look, they'll include an alternate skin in the game as an extra or something. I personally don't give a shit as long as the game is good.

@wcarnation That was a great in-depth analysis you gave there. Please, I would love to hear your comments on the current economy, or Donald Trump attempting to become president.
How can people pass judgment on something that isn't out yet? I know this isn't the Dante that you used to dream would caress you gently at night and whisper sweet nothings in your ear, while you would coyly say "You just activated my Devil Trigger," but get over it. If this ends up being another 'Metroid: Other M', than so be it. If it ends up being another 'Devil May Cry 3', than so be it. If it's "meh," than so be it. So far, I'm not concerned because sometimes a stagnated series needs some revitalization. Ninja Theory does excellent stories, but their game play has been legitimately worrying. That's all that has me concerned, is that they won't be able to live up to DMC 3 or Bayonetta style combat.

@Rainart Just try to remember that everyone who has ever posted a comment on the internet is an idiot, a troll, a bigot, and a loser. Ignore the stupidity, filter the legitimate, thought out arguments form the morons, and see things for yourself. Its unbelievable that people could write a game off because of a characters hair! We're talking about Hair, man. I mean, how silly is that? We're talking about Hair. I mean listen, we're sitting here talking about hair, not a game, not a game, not a game, but we're talking about hair.

I dont feel like there's anything wrong with the gameplay... Mostly because it's pretty much the same gameplay we've already experienced with DMC in the past! Giant sword? check. Dual Guns? check. Devil Trigger? check. He's even got that grab from a distance and pull towards you move that the new guy had in DMC4!

@TypeF I for one am glad they changed the look. NT had a vision of what they wanted this game to be. They didn't rely on the framework that existed already. They didn't slap good ol' Dante onto the cover art and kept the gameplay exactly the same. That's the most respectful thing they could do. Trying to give us something NEW and exciting and taking a chance, not just give us what we had before just because it's SAFER for them. And it still looks like Devil May Cry without being a carbon copy.

This just doesn't feel like DMC anymore. Who is the smart guy that decided to change the way Dante looked!?!? It's pointless and stupid. Dante's look as already been established in every game and anything he has ever been in and they will just say this is a prequel to 3 to cover up their crappy design and failure. What ever person or group thought this was a good idea should be fired.

Basically all they did was go the opposite direction with his design. Where before Dante was chiseled, long white haired, and fashion conscious, this new Dante is scrawny, short black haired, and looks like he raided a goodwill storehouse. But they do show glimpses of what he was which I think is in direct response to the fan hate.

Hang on, aren't Team Ninja and Ninja Theory two different studios?
I mean, yeah, you can still tag them for that horrible Metroid game, but this reboot isn't theirs.

Being a huge JRPG-fan, I have an extremely high tolerance for emo kids. In saying that, even I want to punch this Dante in the face. Old Dante would ninja out of my way, slicing me in half and walking away with a cheesey one-liner. This 'Dante' looks like he'd want to discuss what I did to him, whilst cutting himself and crying.
How could Capcom have let this happen?
At least once this game fails, Capcom will give us DMC5 and never trust their IPs to any... questionable developers.

I liked nothing in that trailer. Feels like an Inception rip-off too. The music actually made it worse. Also, making his hair white just for the devil trigger seems like a slap in the face of the fans.

Christ if your going to make a brooding dark theme don't put on such shitty music. I mean if you start out with some kind of nine inch nails world of illusion theme go dark with it, put on some menacing music something that fits the mood.
Never played a Devil May Cry and after watching this I'll stay on that path.

When the freak is a gameplay demo coming out?! It been almost a year and they haven't show a bit of the real game yet! All we've seen is trailer after crappy trailer! Show me someone actually playing a build of the game. All this waiting is started to tick me off!
You know what....forget it. >:/
The only console this game is fit of is a toilet! Plop it in and flush it for the new "vortex swirl" gameplay! :D

Apparently this is it. All we got at E3 was this trailer and an "interview" where the producers were asked "how awesome is your awesome game?".
It was supposed to be an interview that took questions from fans but since almost everyone was talking about gameplay and framerate there was a long awkward pause as they searched for hard-hitting questions like "so there will be new bosses?"

People sure are quick to bash a game they have no experience with just because it's different. It's a revamp. Just because Dante looks different doesn't mean the game will be horrible, in fact it allows them to open up and completely new and individual story and experience while retaining the same gameplay and feel that Devil May Cry has been praised for. After all, DMC got famous for being amazingly fun to play, not because Dante's hair was white.

Well when you take a does-not-smoke-ever badass white-haired badass with facial hair, smirky expression of badass who spends his days severing demons in half with huge ass sword and shooting them in the face with guns, while techno music or guitar solos fly in the background and...
turn him into meth-addict heavy-smoking kid with a bad hairdo who tries to do air-attacks while a cheap strange hip-hopy or whatever "edgy and young" song plays in background...
Let's just say people tend to get angry at that :)
This is the same as if R.Pattinson would get to play Wolverine in next marvel movie..

@Lotobarnes I agree, the hair was never the big issue for me when it came to his looks. The crack addict look however still is. Though now that I've given it some thought, he just might be one. IF he is all screwed up in the head then maybe he is on crack or was the cigarettes might be a new vice.
Though it's terribly cliche for a "bad ass" to smoke. It's one of the reasons the original Dante didn't smoke.

Nobody wants this to be Devil May Cry. If this was a totally new different series that had nothing to do with Devil May Cry, people wouldn't be so angry about it.
Everyone would be happier if they called the game "Dope Fiend is High" changed Dantes name to "Smokey" and had him fight hordes of angel dust hallucinations. :D

It's a revamp for a reason, the whole point of a revamp is to turn things around in a familiar setting. To hate on something that you have no experience with and for no reason other than "i dont like that kind of music and i don't think he should exactly like that" is naive and childish. You should like or dislike a game for it's story, gameplay, and characters, seeing as how no one here has had any experience with any of those 3 for this game no one should be giving it crap. Be open minded for a change people, let the story tellers tell THEIR story the way THEY want to.

No, what the character looks like isn't the character. You can't judge someone by how they look. You have no idea how the new Dante will act or talk or think, or most importantly how he will develop in the story line. For all anyone knows he may just begin as a down and out addict and step up and realize he has to do what needs to become what the old Dante was. Let them develop the character the way they want it is after all their character and not yours.

People are bashing it because they called it Devil may cry, not Daddy May Cry, and that random kid Dante. DMC series is well known for the gameplay, buy nowadays characters are a big part.
Right imagine an emo kid being called Masterchief and running around shooting and being emo, imagine emo kid called Marcus shooting his lancer and crying ...
To me its not only about the gameplay that matters..
And the fact that Dante has been there for so many years, with his well established image, they just totally killed him. Although i will see how they so the story, it would be better if this emo dante is
in fact just some emo who met dante and dante decided to give him his power (ok i wonder why..). Or the Dante went for a total plastic surgery?
Still i want to punch this emo kid in the face.
