E3 should come to Nashville, TN! They're building a brand new convention center. Should be open early 2013. I just wish Opryland was still around.

E3 officially was Wednesday-Friday, but Monday and Tuesday had the big announcements from Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo and other developers ... so ... 5 days is kinda a week, a work week.

E3 used to be something to look forward to, this year was just a Kinect show from Microsoft, a place to show off previously announced games from Sony, and Nintendo announcing a new console without any details other than it's controller. Pretty disappointing.

@mywhitenoise I think more people would care more if they used our online connected systems during E3 to let us play the E3 demos rather then just dl some video thats already on youtube faster then it gets on the marketplace.

Why? You'd pay $500 just to wait in lines to play demos a couple of months early?

If I'm going to be paying to wait in line, I'd rather go the cheaper route...Disneyland

How? E3 is still closed to those who don't work in the game industry. Thus why they have E for All.

@mywhitenoise You pay $500 (well i went free but others pay $500) so they can see games early, write articles about upcoming games, and have free food and open bar at Skybar with endless numbers fine women and celebo types.

And the reason it doesn't leave is cause there's no Playboy mansion parties in other cities. Vegas they could do. But it's not going to like Atlanta or Memphis or something. Not anytime soon at least.

Get into the videogame business (even as a tester) and you could probably go every year.

I've been a few years back ... it wasn't that great ... really just a buncha nerds collecting crap, taking pictures with girls they'll never have a chance with.

@Meekermoloko this is quite accurate. it's an absolute nerd fest. And most are all petrified of the girls anyways. And they have zero shot with the girls working the show. Maybe if they meet some of them outside the convention at a good parties and they don't come off all scared and dorky. But most do. I even had a conversation with some guy who was literally telling me how he was scared to talk to girls.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Many game devs have the new kits. Nothing surprises me anymore and I wouldn't bet against Microsoft rushing out another console to market >.

Just a note to Joystiq:

Your Alienware ads at the side are annoying as hell. If it was just the image it'd be fine, I could either block it or ignore it, but having a link I can't remove and continuously accidentally click on is actually making me dislike Alienware.

I wasn't planning to buy Alienware anyway, but definitely not now.

Please remove these ads, or make them less disruptive. Thank you.

First of all: E3, come to Denver.

Second: That's not even a year away! If my highly-elite calculations are correct, that's LESS than a year.

Third: I'll be conunting down to June 5th, but that's really probably June 4th, being that a lot of press conferences will inevitably be held the day before like they have for a while. Can't wait!

E3 needs to be in a place that has a large enough convention center and a great metropolitan vibe. If it weren't in LA then I would say E3 should move to New York or Chicago. The only problem though is that I don't think the McCormik Place or the Javits Center are as large as the LA Center

Can fans just show up and buy a ticket to get in or is there some special way to be invited to E3? I've always wanted to go to one and it would be perfect now because my sister is stationed ( airforce) a hour away from LA. How much does it cost for an all access pass for this?

@trunas yeah you have to be in the gaming industry somehow. like press, developers, work for a company related to gaming, be it makers of peripherals or something. But i think if you qualify its like $500. But also everybody doesn't have the same level of access. Like the press can go almost anywhere they want but other kinds of passes can't go into certain areas or VIP areas where they may have special demos or stuff. But if you meet people that work in the industry you can inquire. maybe they can get you in next year.

How about NYC it has a better venue, plenty of Hotels , Restaurants ,tons of shopping, it has Madison Square Garden , the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center,The Metropolitan,Radio City Music Hall.
You folks at The Entertainment Software Association should look at other locations , cause last i checked the gaming industry profits of 20 billion were not from LA only , gamers buy games & accessories in the other 49 states also . let's keep that in mind

E3 was a mess when they did the smaller, hotel-only design a few years back. Can you imagine how hard it would be to get around Midtown Manhattan to get to all these venues? I can see one of the big three holding their press conference at a place like Radio City or the Beacon Theater, but E3 is better when its in one place, and unfortunately I don't think the Javits center is big enough to hold the number of people E3 attracts

New York is one of the worst possible locations to hold an event like that. Theyd be better off in some hodunk city nobody has heard of. LA is ideal because it has everything NY has but its large and spread out like a non-metropolitan city, and probably 80% of game studios and gaming press reside in california.

Thats the primary reason why E3 is held in LA, because its still the center of the game development world here in the states. We're starting to see a lot more studios growing on the east coast though. It may take ten years but I won't be shocked if and more likely when E3 ends up leaving LA and moving to somewhere like Boston, Chicago, and possibly NYC

Not only that, I do conventions every year for my company and having it in N.Y. it would bankrupt 50% of small developers due to the high ass hotel pricing in NYC. Las Vegas, Texas, and Florida are really the only places realistic enough that would be able to host an event as large and potentially pricey as E3.
