"There are four different characters in the game, but unlike Left 4 Dead, they're basically interchangeable"

Huh? Aren't they interchangeable in L4D, too? Maybe you're thinking of something more like borderlands, where they have different abilities?

That's cool, the thing I'm more puzzled by is the PS3/PC. L4D was a Xbox/PC "exclusive" cause of the PS3 architecture not back door shenanigans.

Any XNA'er will tell you to go from PC to 360 is.....well very simple. Oh well this desktop needs a reason for existence. I'll play a good game regardless of the platform.

Don't you take this award from me! I worked hard for this!
But in all seriousness, I'm pretty sure we can agree that there's no need for comments like: "Failstation sux this game shuld come to xboxx!"

I'm jealous of the Playstation users for games like Uncharted, LBP, and many others, but I'm glad these games are being made and people are enjoying them. Just like I'm sure some Playstation owners feel about 360 exclusives.

Ha, geeze I wasn't offering sexual favors to Playstation users, just telling them to enjoy the game.

This way, they'll love me, and let me go over and play the game on their system! :D

Looks good for a small game. If its priced right, it will be nice. There aren't that many cops and robbers types of games out there so this good and one more thing...

Sony Online Entertainment, please, like super please, make this game cross-platform multi-player. The game is not competitive at all, Coop Only right? So controllers won't have a major game ruining disadvantage.

Please? =) I'll buy two copies if you make it so...

Yes, I want this. The prison break mission seems like it has some serious potential. I've always enjoyed breaking out of prison. In video games I mean.

I've always marveled at the fact that there aren't any big budget original IP prison games that culminate in an escape.

Open World style, but like, locked down. Send my check through pay pal Rockstar, I've got ideas to flesh it out, though that sh*7 basically would design itself.

This sounds like my kind of game.

I always wanted to have a video-game version of the opening scene in The Dark Knight, or any other slick heist sequences. I'll definitely be looking into this.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet: the conservatives are going to have a field day with our new bank robbing / hostage taking simulator.

Mass Effect was easy enough to defend (people have sex, just like in real life), GTA was defendable when you looked at the bigger picture instead of the individual criminal acts (your characters are morally ambiguous, but always still noble with a strict sense of justice) and Mortal Kombat's gratuitous violence has always had a humorous, tongue-in-cheek quality to it, making it impossible to take seriously, but I really don't know what there is to say if and when people say this game is in bad taste.

Perhaps there is an overarching storyline that grounds the characters in a moral reality (ala The Italian Job or even Dog Day Afternoon), since that seems to be what makes the illegal actions in heist movies acceptable to us as an audience, but from the sound of it, this really is nothing but a bank robbing simulator and I'm not sure "It's fun and I won't do it in real life" is going to be a very convincing counterargument for us to use against the pundits.

Don't get me wrong, this sounds like an innovative idea and a good deal of fun to me. I'm just kind of worried what kind of media backlash this is going to get.

@PR0F3TA

First off, calm down.

Secondly, it's going to be far more than Fox News that jumps on this. Remember when our favorite sexually promiscuous Governator hypocritically jumped on the anti-video game bandwagon, when he himself made some of the most violent movies of the 80s and 90s? Platforms like this win votes, whether it's the anti-gaming mindset of today, the anti-rap views of the 90s or the anti-rock and roll of the movements in our parents' generation.

Like it or not, conservatives (and to a lesser extent those on the far right) still hold a fair amount of swing over public opinion in America. And until we can squash the prominent public image that adults who play video games are deviant, developmentally-inhibited man-children with a predisposition to violence, we will all continue to suffer from the prejudices those who don't understand the medium hold over us. Sure, it's not like we're fighting against some great injustice like blacks or women once did in this country, but you can't honestly say that it doesn't kind of upset you when people talk about your hobby like it's something for misguided children, misogynistic cavemen or criminals-at-heart who would love to go out and commit crimes if not for the fact that they were too fat, out-of-shape and covered in Cheetos-dust.

And stop shouting. We can hear you just fine.

@heypaul I hope it's not just conservatives who don't like shooting police officers and security guards! I'm a far-lefty who goes to great pains to not shoot any police in the GTA series unless the mission absolutely demands it (and it's still really uncomfortable for me).

Im just gonna say, Any bad publicity is bad for games as a whole, and sets things back for those who make more mature games, It all gets lumped in to the same category and suddenly all games are bad.

I just hope this isnt noticed by any news channels.

I was defending Sly 4 the other day saying it was worthwhile because it was one of the only heist themed games and that there really should be more ocean's eleven / Italian Job style games.

Well, this comes pretty close. Hopefully this is a new genre and there are some more cool games that come out and expand on this.

Having had the opportunity to sit down and play this game at E3, I can tell you it was the surprise of the show for me. As a PSN/PC download, I expect this will come in just under $20, and I think I'll get a lot of bang for that buck. I knew little to nothing of this title before, but I will be watching for news of its release.

The first time I read about this game I was under the impression it was going to be PS3 only. Finding out this will be out on PC as well, I've gotta say this is good news because I pretty much only play PC games. Looks good, however, it seems like a no brainer that they would follow in Left 4 Dead's footsteps and put a VS mode in place. Maybe that's coming in DLC.

Looks really god, but they need randomly generated levels (forget the technical name)

Basically making several sets of rooms, several theme, then randomly generate the corridors and placement of items etc

To make it more replayable

if they did that, id buy it it no doubt
