Best Buy: Pre-order Batman: Arkham City for playable Robin

Boy, we wonder if we'll be able to play as Robin in any segment of Batman: Arkham City. Best Buy believes so, with the retailer's latest weekly ad touting the feature for pre-orderers. When you pre-order Arkham City from Best Buy, according to the listing, you get a "Best Buy exclusive downloadable Robin character" for use in two challenge maps.

This sounds exactly like the Joker challenge maps from the first game, which were offered free with the PS3 version. Well, not exactly, as this Robin offer pertains to PS3, PC, and Xbox 360. Regardless, is a playable Robin any less believable than a playable Joker? Regardless, pending an official confirmation by WB, we're regarding this reveal as a rumor, just like the urban legends of the invincible Dark Knight and his unbeatable partner, a small child.

Agreed. The biggest issue with Robin in a video game is when you get cornered by a gang of thugs, no matter what you push he gets gangtackled.

Worst pre-order ever. It's almost like being punished for pre-ordering.

Please be a skin. I do not want Robin in my Batman games/movies. He only really works in the comics.

@The Cole Train I'd say the Animated Series did a bang up job with him, and I liked what they did with the character in the Rise of Sin Tzu (though some of the rest of the game was problematic).

Yes. I'd want to play as Robin, Nightwing, Huntress, hell, even the current Batgirl. But Jason Todd should still be dead. The Red Hood is dumb.

I thought the Red Hood was pretty dang good. I randomly noticed it on Netflix and watched it. I was expecting crap, but it really wowed me. Lots of neat fight scenes and it paid homage to a lot of the earlier Batman Animated cartoons. It made me desperately crave more batman. Definitely one of the best animated superhero movies or even cartoons I've ever seen.

We ARE talking a world where because an 8 year old was traumatized he became a super ninja borderline metahuman....with the equivalent of a doctorate in 20 different fields. That a teenager can beat up armed thugs is hardly a stretch here.

Its all the rebel or whiny versions of Robin that turn me off to the idea. There are probably some good versions of Robin out there. But my head is still filled with a circus runaway with lots of angst. I'll TRY to be open-minded and see what they do...

I'm wondering why they're including Robin rather than Nightwing, as they skipped Batgirl and had Oracle in the first game.

Sounds kind of dirty actually.

Robin's a badass. Dick Grayson, Tim Drake, Jason Todd, Damian Wayne. If you guys read the comics you would know that. All this hate on robin and most of you have no idea that Dick (first robin/nightwing) is the current Batman and Bruces son is Robin.

This is an awesome pre-order bonus. And you guys just don't know

The times I've hated Batman was usually when Robin was in the picture.

Now, if there were a playable Alfred, yes, I'd be all over it.

I hope it's the Jason Todd version so I can intentionally kill him.

Now if Nightwing was a playable character... that would be awesome.
