@shimrra74 So happy that a GREAT studio like Bungie is multiplatform, I was tough when they got bought out by MS but now the guys are back for everyone.

@The angry pro consumer gaming ga

this may be a bit of a stretch, but i strongly believe bungie would not be nearly as renown as they are if not for microsoft and the massive amount of bills they pumped into the production of the halo series and the marketing, etc.

shit, i remember bungie from back in the day. i played myth online, and loved it to death, but how many others did?

But, but. . . ACTIVISION! I'd wish they'd go with THQ or 2K, or even CD Project RED's publisher, BUT NO! God Damned Activision.

THQ could seriously use the extra dough, they might not be a AAA publisher, but they make some fun ass games.

I played Myth, and marathon before that, and pathways into darkness before that. I was a long-time Bungie fan, and it crushed me when they went to MS.

That said, it was obviously the right move for them; but it was painful as a faithful fan/mac user to get locked out from their awesome games. (no im not getting a 360 just for halo, i dont have enough time to play my ps3 games as-is).

so im very happy they are returning to multiplatform. though im scared about the MMO rumors regarding their next game; i have no time for an MMO in my life.

Sounds awesome. Haven't much of a go at Halo Reach online since a lot less people played and I couldn't get a good game here.

Also, what are those blimp things in the background? Something about Aerospace or something I missed.

that's a shame. personally, i think Reach might be my favorite Halo multiplayer (with Halo 2 a very close second).

"the house that built Halo" they also built things like ONI, Myth, Marathon, Minotaur among others but they only seem to be known as the halo developer almost sad.

@ansalon929 Nobody really played any of those games when they were new. I remember when each of them came out, and none of them had the hype or media attention that Halo did when it came out, so naturally when people thing of Bungie they're going to think of Halo.

That's neither really sad or shocking. Halo was great and it became extremely well known because of that and the help of MS. I see nothing sad about that.

There's a reason for this. Apple pushes developers to charge for their applications so Apple can take a 30% cut of whatever your App makes, not to mention that just to develop on the platform, you need to shell out $99 for the SDK and then keep paying that $99 to push applications to the App Store. (A similar policy which Microsoft uses, however the Windows Phone 7 SDK is free.)

Google on the other hand just hands out it's SDK free of charge and then charges $25 a year to push applications to the Android market. Google, of course, came to dominance off-of advertising and thus, pushes developers to use their Google Ads services, taking an unknown cut of the revenue you make with your application.

So you're not comparing like-with-like. Yes, Apple does have iAds, but they're barely used and failed to launch. Advertisers, Google included, don't like people openly sharing how much money they make off advertisements. Hence why you hardly ever see figures for how much money people make off Android applications, they're forbidden to release that information if they use adverts as the sole means of revenue generation. However, developers still flock to Android as do customers, so they must be doing something right.

As for the current state of games on Android devices, the Android eco-system is a lot like the PC market. Lots of different hardware configurations and some minor fragmentation issues (95% of all Android devices run on 2.x firmware, but only 10% run the absolute latest version of the phone-bound OS; 2.3 "Gingerbread"). This makes things more difficult for developers over iOS, however it's what PC developers have had to deal with since the dawn of gaming itself. This was what kept large companies from developing on the Android system for long complicated reasons I wont bulk this post with. However there are signs of change. Square Enix has said they're looking into bringing Chaos Rings over to Android so the future looks pretty bright for the OS as a gaming platform.

Just remember that mobile gaming is just at the start of it's renaissance, it's still yet to find it's stride.

In this case the app is free, but for game developers trying to put food on the table Android has proven that it's extremely difficult to make ends meet on the platform.

Bungie's next game wont sell half as well as Halo activision isn't going to market it the way they do call of duty or the way Microsoft does Halo Bungies next game will be known by the core and every one else will say what's this? Besides after they split they lost a lot of their Halo fanbase including me. So I doubt it'll be big whatever they do.

@skbkoy65 Why wouldn't Activision put their full marketing weight behind the next Bungie IP? Its to their benefit to do so, they signed a 10 year exclusivity agreement, and wrote Bungie a blank check. They wouldn't do that and then send the product to die.

Bungie being independent is probably the biggest sign of how much Microsoft has dropped the ball with the 360. I know Halo is still exclusive (at least I think it is), but you think Sony would let go of the teams making the exclusives, the only things that separate consoles? MS has practically nothing to compete with Sony and it's getting worse and worse. Practically all the big name MS exclusives are now on PS3. While all the big name PS3 exclusives are still exclusives. Who is in charge at MS? Anyone? Someone with a fetish for prancing around in front of their TV doing dance moves who thinks that's enough?

What's on 360 only now that matters? Forza, Fable, Gears of War. Forza has an equal in Gran Turismo. Fable, well it's basically a joke that no one is passionate about. Gears of War, made by the non-exclusive Epic, and while I'm sure some people enjoy it, it's not enough by itself.

Oh, I forgot Rare! Who haven't made a great game since Banjo Kazooie 1 and haven't made a decent game since Perfect Dark 1, which wasn't even as good as Goldeneye. Luckily you can play both those games on your 360! Nearly as bad as owning a 3DS and being happy with OoT and Starfox 3D Rehash.

All this coming from me, someone that hates Sony on religious grounds (Saturn and Dreamcast owner).

What about 'Splosion Man, Shadow Complex, Limbo, Trials HD...?

I also feel like I should mention that Insomniac is making a multiplat game now...

but yeah, when it comes to retail exclusives, PS3 far and away has the upper hand.

Halo, Gears of War, Forza, Fable, Crackdown

inFamous, ModNation Racers, Gran Turismo, LittleBigPlanet, Uncharted, God of War

I'd say they are about equal, Gears and Halo have a much larger fanbase than any of the PS3 games. Saying that, inFamous is brilliant.
