@Prestidigitator

I can't say that I agree with this sort of behavior at all, but in the long run I do some some sort of good coming from this. Maybe games companies will eventually start making things a little more secure, which I HOPE TO GOD PERHAPS WILL LEAD TO LESS CHEATERS/HACKERS on games like Call of Warfare 12 Modern Bullets. You know, those games certain people stop playing and/or buying (DLC included) because the lag is SO bad, and that guy you just shot went through that wall, and did that thing...

We have learned a lot of scientific advances from the evil experiments the Nazi's did on people during WW2. So yes, maybe good will come from it. But the end never justifies the means.

Nothing, lame however..

Update: The group has gone after Riot Games' League of Legends servers as well. Attempting to log in to the game gives a "server busy" message, though there's no official word from the company yet.

Well, atleast the US will feel what we EU players feel most of the time :D :D :D :D
hehehehe... :(

@yoshiru and the Japanese experiments, but I fail to see how those atrocities compare to a DDoS attack. I would be a happier person had we not used that "knowledge". On topic, the whole hack/DDoS/mischief thing is really losing me here.

This is a DDoS attack. It is basically a bunch of computers refreshing their connection repeatedly. The only way to defend yourself from it is to not be connected to the internet at all.

So no, doing something like this will not get companies to improve their security.

Yes, it probably will prompt companies to upgrade their servers, but if hackers didn't do this in the first place, there wouldn't be a need, making the efforts unnecessary.

DDoSing has nothing to do with security. It's just bombarding a server with so many false requests that it can't handle it. There's little you can do against such an attack and it won't improve anything.

@yoshiru We didn't learn jack shit from the Nazi experiments.

I mean I guess we better understood the bodies tolerance to heat and cold, but other than that all their work was shoddy at best. They often didn't have any form of control group.

Even other Nazi scientists at the time threw out their findings because most of it was just torture porn for sick idiots. Believe it or not sewing twins together doesn't actually teach anybody anything. Whooda thunk.

I would still be safe though and change your passwords...during a DDoS it makes databases pretty vulnerable.

@NightlyNews Too true. On the other hand, fighting against the Nazi's did in fact lead to a lot of advances, which is more applicable to this experience as well. Computers and the internet are built on ideas discovered by the people trying to break nazi codes! Still, I don't see these attacks doing much but causing aggrivation.

based on their previous success you would think they would have the initiative to start a legitimate security probing company then they could get paid for doing the same thing legally.

Apparently they have decent hacking skills but no business skills.

Hackers take credit, but they don't do it with their actual names. It's really hard for law enforcement to attach a fictional name to an actual human without definite proof.

The problem with ignoring it is that customers will assume the victimized companies are inept and can't keep their services running.

I'm seeing the alternative. How about just just telling us it was hacked, but not saying who has claimed responsibility? Now we know what happened, and no seedy characters get their names in headlines across the internet.

Each week these dickwad's attacks get put on news websites and blogs. They know the community is going to respond. This only increases their ego and make them feel like their e-penis is big and the cycle rotates and happens again.

Its a never ending cycle.
