Call of Duty: Black Ops' 'Annihilation' maps revealed

We didn't spot any celebrities in the Call of Duty: Black Ops "Annihilation" DLC footage included in this dev diary. However, we did see lots of shots of all the new maps, including the Area 51-inspired "Hangar 18," the "Hazard" map based on World at War's "Cliffside" (and then made into a golf course), and the ancient ruins/zombie stronghold "Shangri-la."

You can either watch the video after the break and get excited about your upcoming $15 purchase, or just buy it on June 28 when it comes to Xbox Live. But let's be honest: either way, you're going to end up buying this Call of Duty map pack. Everyone will.

While I think battlefield will be better than cod mw3, comparing it to a game that's been out since last year is a little harsh.

@Peril This video has nothing to do with Battlefield. I know it's cool to hate Call of Duty, but that doesn't mean we should spam every post about it saying "Battlefield 3 will kill this!" I'm getting Battlefield 3, it looks great, but it still has nothing to do with this post.

@BrianH - They should have gone the old-school mod route, and created a map set inside a child's bedroom, or a bathroom.

There were so many colors in the pictures, I had to re-read to see if this was Borderlands or Call of Duty. I'm surprised; pretty vibrant. Looks good.

They really need to bundle a DLC to Zombie maps only thats really why I drop $15 for these Black Ops Map Packs

I bet they'll released the zombie maps in the "Undead Map Pack [DLC 24]" for $14.99 in a month or two.

Actually, I won't. Not because I'm a hater or BF fanboy, but because Black Ops is still stuttering on my PC. BO was a really fun game on Xbox, but on PC it was plain out boring, and I'm all about PC gaming. Looks good though :)

@Cole Phelps I'm sorry for your experience, Black Ops has been fine on my PC. The only problem is that my brother bought me the Russian version for $25 when it came out. So the game was dubbed in Russian, so I had to get the English audio files, have to download the English map-packs, etc. Its pretty annoying, I feel like asking Steam to remove it from my account and just buy the American version.

@nerdydesi1 I envy you, I really liked BO, it had potential. That Russian stuff sounds like a lot of stress, too bad CoD games rarely are really cheap on Steam sales :/

@nerdydesi1 I bought the Russian version as well and it worked like a charm for me. The patching and registry fix took me cumulatively about five minutes, even when the DLC packs came out.

And, frankly, that was absolutely worth paying $20 for the game new.

@Cole Phelps Try modifying your config file: Black Ops runs terrible stock, much more so than any major recent release.

I wonder why MW2 only got two map packs and we are already at 3 with Black Ops?

And there was only one for COD4. It seems that the quality of the map packs is going down in favor for quantity. Not that I think these are bad, but they're obviously not as good.

In one word, money.

@nerdydesi1 Seems like a Treyarch thing. They released 3 map packs in the same timeframe in 2009 for World at War. CoD4 only got 1 map pack due to them not expecting the popularity that they got and MW2 was planned to have 3, but only 2 were released due to the IW-Activision situation.

It's b/c IW never went very far in supporting their games post launch.

as much as people like to bag on Treyarch, at least (or the people they subcontract to) bother support their titles, and I'm glad black ops wasn't a mess full of exploits unattended to like mw2.

I did go back to mw2 and it seems somewhat playable...outside of guys running around at light speed shotgunning people.

Everyone: "Blah, blah, blah, BF3, blah, blah, blah Activision, blah, money, blah, blah."

"[...] But let's be honest: either way, you're going to end up buying this Call of Duty map pack. Everyone will."

Haven't bought a single one on PC yet, neither for BO, nor for MW2, and I don't feel like I've missed out on it...

They really really need to lower that price if they are going to release maps this often. Specially with MW3 around the corner.

Yeah 3 dollars a map is horrible horrible horrible. Get a job you bum.

@(Unverified) Team Fortress 2 has given players over 30 maps in it's life. For FREE. There is a reason people whine about getting only 5 maps for the price of a good XBLA game. 5 maps vs. Section 8 Prejudice. Guess which one is more worth the $15 price.

Um, they have given ZERO maps to console players. Along with ZERO class updates, and haven't had a title update in almost two years.

Maybe if Valve could make money off of digital distribution on consoles, they might actually give a shit about them. But they haven't, and don't.

I'm buying this map pack, which brings the Black Ops investment total to 105 bucks (Not including Gold monthly fee and my internet service charge). Best part is, they actually think I'll pay for Elite.
