Would it really be all that hard to save up an extra $100 and get a new one?

not that I have the money for it, but these baby's are just asking to be ripped apart and modded with better coolers.

$100 compared to $200 is a huge difference to a lot of people.

@Cletus VanDamme Had one of those, and got the red ring of death only after it decided to scratch a fair few of my games before hand. Talk about a kick in the nuts.

protip: make sure it's a Jasper unit

http://www.overclock.net/xbox/464314-xbox-360-revision-do-you-have.html

the Jaspers weren't immune to RRoD, but they were much more reliable than previous units. should last much longer than a month.

@Hawaii Jeff I had 4 Elites so far, one last a grand total of 3 days, or about 6 hours of use.

Wait for the 4 GB to come on sale for $129 and if you don't have a 16 GB USB drive, an internal 250GB HDD for it is like $60. Pay the extra.

What were you doing to your 360 that caused it to crap out on you in 3 days. I had my launch 360 for 3 years before it broke on me.

Playing it -LOL. Seriously. It sat/sits on top of the stereo stand, in a cool basement. I also would say it would get moderate time used. Guitar Hero killed the first one, the second was Halo 3 and the third was killed by 1 vs 100. Yeah 1 vs 100. I played a few rounds and it did a RROD the next day.

It wasn't dusty either

Thats not true stop being a troll. I bought a refurb and had it for a yr now. Theres no doubt they are unreliable but they certainly last longer than a month thats just stupid to say and besides they are incredibly easy to fix yourself you can have it done within an hr up and running.

Purchase price $100. After the 90 days, you'll have to call xbox support and pay them a $100 to fix it. Now you're looking $200 dollars invested. Save yourself the headache and buy the new version.

Only problem is that you can't take a minor across borders without adult consent. Even if the minor agrees to go with you it's still illegal... it doesn't matter how much candy you offer or how spacious your van is.

Excuse me but, not all of us were born in Richland.
Many of us actually consider 200 bucks a lot of money. Yes, its not A LOT if you are a Doctor, but if you work at McDonalds and were fed with kool-aid instead of breast milk, you cant just go around spending 200 dollars on "toys".

You don't need to be condescending. $200 really isn't THAT much money, especially once compared to $100. It has nothing to do with being "raised on kool-aid instead of breast milk".

It's all about budgeting your money, which most people these days can't wrap their heads around since we live in a society obsessed with instant gratification.

If you REALLY want a console, I agree to save your money and buy a new one. Buying this refurb, from Gamestop of all places, is only going to make you spend more money than a new console in the long run so if you're looking to save money because you "work at McDonalds" then stay away from this offer.

Just my two cents.

$200 is a lot of money to a child. To an adult who budgets their money and regularly saves, it's nothing really. I worked as a sales associate at Wal-mart while living on my own paying for an apartment and for school when the 360 and Wii both launched, but I had no problem being able to buy either of those.

My wife and I only make a combined annual income of about $60,000, it's comfortable middle class, but $200 is less than a day's work between the two of us. If $200 is a lot to anyone, then they should rethink how they manage their finances.

My thoughts exactly. I felt that the comments made by that person were definitely bigoted and even condescending.

I'm also glad I'm not the only one who thinks that $200 isn't such a huge deal when you actually attempt to budget your money.
