The background on the TV is different. In the U.S. version it was a bunch of loop-de-loops from Green Hill.

@gordunk - I honestly wonder why they decided that. Seems a bit strange.

@GamingColt *note* the US version is not pictured. However if you click the source link it is.

It's a little more than that. The picture in the US version is from the cover art of the original Sonic the Hedgehog game for Genesis/Megadrive.

@Nintendo Tim
The non-US picture is a reference to the Japanese box arts

Booooo! When will Sega learn? We want fat Sonic! Gamers like their mascots fat but agile. Why do you think Mario is still incredibly popular?

Yeah! Fat characters are what the selling point of every franchise! After all, what do you think John-117 looks with his armor off? Carl from Aqua Teen Hunger Force, of course!

(BTW, love Mario and potbelly Sonic, but I had to take a shot on your comment as it is pointless)

Yeah my comment was totally pointless. One day I hope to be as insightful as you and post intelligent comments like "Cool story, bro".

Man, pack this with Sonic Generations in a limited edition steelbook case, commemorative 20th anniversary booklet, 20th anniversary soundtrack CD, and a huge 20th anniversary poster, and SEGA can charge me whatever the hell they want for it

In the Japanese version Sonic sticks up his middle finger, rather than his index finger. Obv.

why the hell would they make a crappy modern Sonic figurine to celebrate 20 years??? everything else about this looks rad- but i wish they would have created the old Sonic instead. the build quality and size seem just about perfect though. i'm sure this is ideal for SOMEONE, though. just not me...

If Joystiq gets their hands on one of these, go ahead and give it to Ludwig. You can break your own rule just this once.

All the figures standing in a line blur, and eventually it looks like Sonic is giving everyone the finger for the years of hate he's received.

I want one.
