I NEVER use Home, but I have to admit I was there for E3.

No doubt all the free stuff that Sony just put out for the welcome back program had nothing to do with influencing those numbers.

Don't think so, you don't have to log into home to get the free stuff, lol

If anything the fact that they were just back from the outage less than a week earlier makes it even MORE impressive that they drew half a million people in there.

I would agree with you, I still wonder, like I said if it influenced the numbers though. speaking only for myself I know I jumped on Home just to wander around and to look at the free things that were offered, then I jumped off. I had not been on it before that in months... it would be an interesting thing to find out for how many gamers is getting on home a major part of their gaming day? That is, other then the weirdos that get on mistake it for a dating website, and run around saying " Are there any girls in here??"

That's not true. You do have to log into Home, put the free items you want into your basket, and check out (with a $0 total). Otherwise, you don't get them, and like everything else in the Welcome Back program, the opportunity will expire in a few weeks.

I might as well have logged into home for the Sony press conference; G4 (or was it Spike...one or the other) was cutting off every fifth or sixth word, intermittently throughout the broadcast. It was really annoying.

too bad I waited an hour and it didn't show and I tried to relog and got an error after error so I decided to watch it on the blog lol. The rewards were cool though but I wish they had exclusive stuff on E3 in the E3 home booth to have more of an incentive to go there.

Virtually walking around the E3 booth is always pretty neat, but sadly, it's the only thing I log into Home for... once a year!

Well it's because they unfortunately don't get a regular TV sponsor like Microsoft or EA did in Spike.

I eventually saw it after leaving and coming back, not sure if it was just late or if it helped that I reloaded it. I already had another source by then though, so I didn't stick with it.

The live stream in Home didn't work for me until the press conference proper was over. It stated working once the PS Blog post-conference coverage began.

@d134 Agreed, plenty of people logged in, but maybe 3 people could watch it. I tried a few sites and it was intermittent at best. Very disappointing. Though I imagine the time of day caused much more traffic than the Nintendo or MS conferences.

PS Home is one of the icons I wish I could hide... it's in the way of getting to the store.. not that I ever buy anything, even the free stuff under PSN+ is left alone

lol.. Do you really think that Home is not successful? Let me guess, you also think that Farmville makes no money either because you don't like it right? That is wonderful logic you have there... Let's see if I can apply it..

Okay, I don't like golf so it must not make any money and no one does it. Yup, all those people who show up to the tournaments only do it once a year.

Did I do that right? I think I did.. wow, ignorance is fun!

I logged on to watch Sony's press conference. It's funny, people were complaining about how sucky the stream was, when I had 0 problems with it.

I'm just cool like that.

Checking out the booth virtually is cool, since its not open to the public like PAX. PS Home wasnt working for me during the press conference but it streamed no problems on the ps.blog except when i got disconnected due to my power cutting out

People might hate it but its making Sony quite a bit of money. Sony doesn't care that hardcore gamers don't care about the product when it works, especially when I never figured it was for us anyway.

I think this points to the exact problems with home and why people poke fun at it.

When you give something of VALUE for people to watch/view/show then people are encouraged to log in and check it out. Cool! Good use of technology! It makes sense to watch the presentation in home. Its the perfect environment for it.

However, home in its "normal" form is a poor use of technology and once the wow-factor wears off its nothing more than a poor menu system.

Stream didn't work very well, watched the show on IGN instead, booth was cool and Home had admittedly been quite lively since E3 and the Home update, but it needs more incentives, more spaces, more games, more interlinks with games we play, it needs that trophy cabinet (at least for platinums), it needs music, I wouldn't mind if it played real movies in the theatre once in a while.

The problem Home has is that because it isn't like an MMO where every location has some relevance, some spaces are mega popular, brimming with people, while others are dead dead dead. Take the Socom spaces for example, I see maybe 1 or two people in them, but they are dead otherwise. Home should have been built like an MMO so that even if you had no PS games to play, you'd still have a blast playing in Home, watching concerts, movies, listening to music, testing out fast cars on a test track, blowing people up in multiplayer death races, having boxing matches tekken style, etc etc, and each space brings a whole new spin of excitement to the world. Instead we have something that could be fun, but either isn't used, gets boring very quickly if it is used, or is only used by people who happen to love it to bits.

I forgot and only caught the last half an hour or maybe less, but it was generally hell to watch because of all the lag I had. Then I saw a cameraman with a wireless camera and I understood perfectly. Ugh.
