@Mr Hett Well, if it comes out sooner than April 2012, I'd get it on my Xbox 360. They would have to make a pretty cool use of the touchscreen to warrant the purchase on WiiU.

@skbkoy65 Probably. It's coming from the man that implemented the boob axis control. We have already seen QTEs too, so yeah.

I'll give it a rent though. It can't suck so much.... right?

@WeRequireMOARMinerals

Wrongo Require.
Itagaki, if you don't remember the HUGE bit of crap that came up with it, left Tecmo and "Team Ninja" after completing Ninja Gaiden 2. The shell that was left after Itagaki and a large number of core devs then went on to make the horribly stupid "PG-13" NG Sigma 2, complete with more rainbow sparkles than a unicorn.

THAT shell, "Team Ninja", is also responsible for the clumsy and awkward combat and such of Metroid: Other M, as well as this game.

@liquidsoap89 No you won't, you won't pass on this. You will play it to see what is missing or what it should of been compared to the other Ninja Gaiden games when our good friend, Tomonobu Itagaki, was head of development. Come, join us in our quest to find out what has become of this one. :)

@Arsenic13 There's probably some truth to that but it really sounds like this series has lost its way. After the disappointing second game, it will take something special to get me back. The first game was outstanding and a great challenge, if only they had trophies back then so I could properly brag about it.

If Itagaki was still in Team Ninja come Metroid Other M, we would of seen Samus, instead of cowering before the unimpressive sight of Ridley, run up to him, grapple-laser his ass and smash him into a column, then roll up along his back and perform a bomb-jump, before dropping off a super-bomb right in his open gullet.

Plus, Samus would of smacked the crap out of anyone who tried telling her she couldn't use her powers.

They're still working on the level where Ryu slaps a guitar with his boner and kills a bunch of pirates who are eating chicken buttholes, so Ludwig hasn't seen that, yet.

I just started playing NGS2 on PS3, and yea.. the total lack of a story or interesting characters really hurts my motivation to play the game.
The online multiplayer appears to be totally useless due to lag, too.

Ugh.

You should keep at it. Lack of story and blood, and that awful camera aside, the fighting mechanics of that game are butter smooth and beautifully executed. From the sounds of it, I highly doubt NG3 will pull many people away from NGS2 on PS3. We'll stick with slicing down finish times on the Ultimate Ninja challenges.

No shop, no weapon upgrades, and it seems like they're not going to give you much weapon variety. I'll play NG3, but I'll definitely need to see more before i can say if I'll buy it or not. This "Steel on Bone" concept they're pushing is going to kill the series if they're not careful.

I was surprised that Ludwig didn't mention that concept, more.

Arthur Gies was complaining quite a bit about the new mechanic that causes your sword to get stuck in enemies, triggering a QTE to pull it out.

This game sounds like a rudderless mess.

Of course it is! We all know that black leather suit is made from flying dinosaur-hide. Any dinosaur that flew, Ryu sliced its head off and added another patch to his costume.

I am SOOOO unbelievably annoyed by some of the changes they've presented in NG3's trailer. Most notably (even though there are a few other highly noteworthy things I could point out) is the "addition" of QTEs. Ninja Gaiden does NOT need hand-holding, cliched, played out, boring, simon-says-type gameplay! There is absolutely no need to cater to the mainstream audience because they will never know about this game and they will never buy it. Action adventure games don't sell that well!

At the very least, they didn't pull a Capcom and totally redesign Ryu. ...although it sounds like they're messing with some of his formula already but that's more to do with the story and gameplay, not aesthetics.

Are all of these companies nowadays just focusing on easy-peasy mainstream cash grabs and not spending enough time on a well-thought out and interesting (not necessarily original) concept, or is it just most of them?

Different from most gamers, I'm not against QTEs. It was part of what made Shenmue so special (I won't get into Dragon's Lair or Space Ace since, well, I haven't actually played then). I'm glad that Team Ninja approach on combat is a careful one but, QTEs on my Ninja Gaiden?! Damn you Itagaki, see what your stubbornness has done, you idiot?? Hope you're happy that the rest of your team is wrecking your franchise (unrelated, that goes to Inafune too). Every single aspect pointed out, beside the combat, seems shoehorned and disappointing. Stealth? I love Metal Gear and I actually think it could work weren't it for, you know... the sheer desire to see limbs gushing everywhere across the screen.

Oh, even the headline is disappointing. "Evolution of mammals" gave me the impression that they were gonna talk about other of Team Ninja's strong points (I don't need to point it out, right? Oh, TN, thanks for leaving Samus alone on that, by the way).

I think the only thing that impressed me (I don't know if positively or otherwise) is the statement that there isn't clipping between the Dragon Sword and the enemies... Is there TIME to notice that? My, my, my...

Well, I think I'm gonna get into that NG2 copy I own for about 2 years now and never got passed the third mission for sheer laziness before they screw up the series for good.

@TheShaper

QTE's have their place, but I've always felt that place was where Shenmue (usually) put them: scenes that would otherwise just be cinematics.

I hate when QTEs are implemented in to general gameplay, so that I'm seeing button prompts flash on the screen multiple times within a minute, regardless of how many times I've executed the prompted action in the past.

Press "O" to cut off the dude's head. I get it. Stop cluttering up my screen.

Completely agreed. While in games like, say, The Force Unleashed, it seems gimmicky (I don't care for them in the RE series either), one of the most breath-taking moments in my videogame resume was running away from Di Niu handcuffed to Ren in a series of successful but pretty reflex-demanding QTEs, jumping out a window just to be prompted to input the first composed QTE command in the game. Oh man, I think I'm gonna dust off good ol' Dreamcast and play them both over again.

History is just repeating itself: NGIII on NES was developed by different lead designer (who, ironically, was the #2 guy on the second NES NG game, just as with this trilogy) and NGIII was the weakest of the original trilogy and, apparently, so shall this game be...

I don't see y people hate QTEs so much. Yeah I don't care for them. I would rather not have them but they don't bother me. If u kno u have to press O to kill someone what's the difference in pressing O or having a O pop up on the screen and then pressing? I'll tell u, there is no difference. Most people would rather do it on their own without being told but u r still pressin the button it's not like the game is doin it for u. And everybody shouldn't judge the game so hard yet it's only 40% done with over a year left in development to go. Just voice your word on the team ninja website and maybe u will b heard but don't knock the game yet. You could play it when it comes out and it b the best game u ever played u never kno. I also find it odd that joystiq is complaining that it's not running at 60 fps when battlefield 3 is gonna run at 30 the whole way through the game. It's not gonna jump to 60 at some point. It's gonna be at 30 the whole way through. Now that's gay and sumthin to complain about but NG3 could come out and b locked in at 60 fps it's too early to tell. I've never played any NG but I think it looks fun and awesome. It def got me wantin to get the first 2 and try em out. And people needa quit talkin about sigma bc it's the same game but without the blood and purple mist added and a few stuff added to make the game better. If it's the same game wit a couple things added like say new missions then how can that b worse u would think it could only make it better not to mention add a lil more to the game although I do have to say the purple mist is gay it is a M rated game by the way but I don't think that makes it a worse game for it. It's just a dumb move on team ninjas part
