Gaikai partners with Walmart.com
21
If you're a game streaming service like Gaikai that's looking to partner with online retailers, Walmart.com seems like a pretty good option. (In case you're reading this on a mobile platform that can't see italics, we put them on those last three words to emphasize that were were understating the point. Classic Joystiq!)
The retailer has, according to VentureBeat, added Gaikai in-browser game streaming to its GameCenter page for Dead Space 2 and possibly other titles. At the moment, none of us on staff can see the option to stream the game, but we know it's automatically disabled if you don't have the requisite bandwidth. Maybe we all just need to get fatter pipes?
Assuming it'll all work as designed sooner or later, this could set a pretty important preceden for online game shopping. We just selfishly hope you'll still read our reviews when Skynet lets you try everything before you buy it.

OnLive is a lot better, tiny client to install on a PC, play on Amy system you own or the amazing micro console (free with most pre-orders) tons of games free to try and amazing prices to buy. Also has the second best online system on a games console.

How is OnLive better when it is a different type of service? OnLive is a service made for extended gaming sessions whilst Gaikai is made so you can easily just pick up and try the game out. Perhaps Gaikai will even link to OnLive if someone would like the product and want to continue clouding.

@parabolee And I suppose you've actually used Gaikai considering it's not even available in closed beta form. If you haven't (which you obviously haven't) then you should stop being a troll and get a life. OnLive will never be better than anything until it gets actual online gameplay and not the Hamachi style bullshit it uses now. Also, wasn't aware you could play OnLive on anything but a computer or the micro console, but if that somehow means (I'm going to assume your 'Amy' meant 'any') any console then you need to do OnLive's P.R since they obviously don't know their own product very well.

@The Only Girl - My apologies that I wasn't clearer. I meant that OnLive is a better use of streaming cloud gaming technology. It can be used to demo games though, as many people do use it for that.
@jinxvorheeze - First of all you should re-read what you wrote and reconsider who is the troll. The entire tone of your post is belligerent.
While I admit my haste in posting I was unclear in stating that I thought OnLive was a much better use of the technology. I hardly think my post warranted your venom.
As for my comment on "any system", again I must concede that I should have be clearer, my crime here was trying to post a quick thought and not expecting the Spanish Inquisition.
What I meant was any PC without installing, and the ability to continue where you left off. Also coming later this year you will be able to play on Android and iDevices.

Has anyne tried Gaykai? is it like Onlive?problem with streaming services is that they lack a big catalog of games.

@Gamehero
I suppose it's like OnLive except made specifically for demos and ease of convenience. It's a pick up and go type of cloud service.

I'm on 25/3 fiber optic internet, and I don't have the option. I don't think it is based on bandwidth.

Walmart.com has this new game that's made to look like a retro, indie title- but it was actually funded by a secret conglomerate of corporate lobbyists and international lawyers. It's called "Female Work Force", and it's not so much glitchy... as it's just got a LOT of "Exploits"!

this actually makes sense. but from the private beta they had OnLive still played better.
Hopefully WalMart will give them the push they need.
