I doubt that and who cares? At least I am not afraid to speak my mind and can say more than "no" like some people(nobody in particular since I can't think of a memorable example at the moment).

Also, what did your comments add to this?
That's right. They added nothing except to insult me without discussing the topic at all.

I would be looking in the mirror if I were you.

I apologize to the other commenters and the article author here for this completely off topic comment of mine.

@JohnicYouth Still, too little, too late really. CO beat them to it, and it's kind of an old and stale now. I think I'll pass, F2P or not.

The only problem is that CO is way more shallow than CoH.
CoH is better made and has more content. It's not too late when the competition still hasn't caught up.

That and the game is so stacked against free-players you may as well not play at all. You can only customize your character's abilities if you do the sub deal. Not to mention they try to make you pay for the extra free to play "classes". Basically, you're screwd unless you're shelling out monthly, even as Free to play. You CANNOT compete with the min/maxers.

Awesome, I used to play this a lot back in the day. Granted, I had a broken foot and nothing better to do.

I really liked City of Villains, looking forward to the F2P version.

@Negatron Mr. Negatron, I'll have you know I am quite familiar with the superheroic identity of James MacDonald Hudson. Familiar enough to also know that his wife, Heather MacNeil Hudson, dons a similar powered suit allowing her to fight crime as the lady with the leaf.

So most likely free play a generic looking character/pay to unlock interesting appearance.

When the game started there were a lot of people who complained of no capes, you could eventually do a mission for an outfitter to earn the right to wear one. Also there was the super effects for preorder bonuses that enhanced the characters looks. so there are lots of premium options thry can deny free players.

The ONLY thing Champions Online has over City of Heroes, in my opinion, are more travel power visual/theme options, separate fingers on the character hands(not a big issue) and a more easy to use gamepad option.

Champions Online lacks a lot of content though while also lacking a lot of possible powers too, compared to City of Heroes.

Heroes is also a game from 2004...and it LOOKS like it. I'm usually not a stickler for graphics, but that game needs a serious upgrade before I'd go back.

"Only" only "usually" refers to one "thing". My use of the word "things" allowed me to make a short list of the "only things" CO has over CoH.

I actually like the graphics. They look gritty and realistic and shiny and new when necessary too.

CO looks too much like plastic and rubber everywhere. Most of their costume pieces are also just bricks.
How do they get away with making an 8 or 10-sided halo??!!

I prefer the CoH graphics because they actually try the best they can and end up better than CO in most ways.

A more apt comparison would be the paying customers are the Avengers and the free-to-play ones are the Great Lake Avengers.

@Palmer45

Would that make you the Defenders?

Seriously, you're going to write-off people you have never met, who could be just as "awesome" as you, as "F2P smacktards" without a second thought?

Honestly, I would take all the "F2P smacktards" over you and all those like you who have posted on the official CoH forums complaining about "letting the unwashed masses destroy our community".

The simple truth is you will get both good and bad people no matter whether they pay or not. The only thing you can do is try to lead by setting a good example and being helpful to encourage them to show their best as well.

If all else fails, use /ignore and ask for a bigger ignore list, perhaps one stored on your own computer so it can be infinite.
Just don't write-off everyone else as "the worst people possible" when it only makes you look even worse than you think they will be.

I happen to be a good example of one type of player that will be coming back to City of Heroes.

I'm one of the previous subscribers(33 month vet) who is always helping others and following the golden rule.

That already debunks your "F2P losers will destroy community" crap.

Edit:

I may have misinterpreted the meaning of the above comment by you, Palmer45.

My sentiment against those who dismiss others they have no knowledge of still stands though. It's the reason we still have conflict, racism, war and separate nations that hate every other nation in the world today.
People rarely care to think and would rather generalize almost all the time.

Actually, I'm not overly excited.
It's just that if I post anything to say about a topic at all it tends to be a lot and I tend to think of new things as people give me ideas or they pop into my head.

I have two switches. My most common state is "nothing or little to say" and my other state is "quite a bit to say". :P

I am happy that this game will finally allow me to support it without shoving a "until hell freezes over" monthly fee down my throat that I can't even use all of.

@eeekthesneak Their page says that you'll have only the 2 character slots, plus whatever slots you already unlocked. That doesn't sound good to me, especially with how ridiculously easy (and addicting) they made it to make alts.

Purchase the Going Rogue Complete Collection. You won't have to download most of the game and you will get all the content plus a month of game time which will be VIP time when Freedom goes live.
It's the best deal right now.
