I have a feeling this is going to be a lot more fun to play with a Move controller than on Kinect.

It will probably be more accurate, and for a game of its breed, it will certainly help keep it in pitch-perfect arcade shape, but I don't know if it will make it more fun. I already own a Move set, but playing Child of Eden with Kinect really makes me want to buy a Kinect. It's the experience that's fun, it all fits together well, and using your body motions to control the game is a lot more gratifying than holding onto a physical controller.

The Miove is certainly better at controlling games on the whole, and on the surface this game is very traditional being, at its core, an on rails shooter. But I really think Kinect elevates the game to a new level, where as Move controls, fun and well implemented as they'll probably be, will just further help it feel like an on rails shooter.

I love how people like this get upvoted.
"a lot more fun with move than on Kinect"
The game was designed for Kinect, so obviously it will be equally (if not more) fun on the Kinect than the Move. Sure Kinect is a load of crap for the most part, but give credit where it is do. Every review has said this game is meant for Kinect, so I fail to see your logic.

@Prax

I can see the pluses and minuses of both control schemes. Kinect seems a good fit, but honestly having a real "pointer" in the Move controller seems more appealing to me personally. Honestly it's one of the better Kinect games out there, so credit where it's due, but I'll be picking it up for PS3.

I'm pretty sure the article says, "Q? is making each version on its own". Meaning that it was not designed for Kinect. Only the 360 was. Of course.

@Snooki From everything I've read and heard about the game it's just an update to Rez, so it wasn't really designed for the Kinect, it was originally designed for the Dreamcast and PS2. Mizuguchi tends to put up a lot of smokescreens in his games like in this case some random live action girl or whatever, to make them seem original, but he hasn't really done anything original since like Space Channel 5. It's a rhythm/psychadelic rails shooter, not exactly the most original game out there. I don't really understand how holding your arm out to the screen or over your head for bombs or whatever entails a game being designed specifically for Kinect. Considering Mizuguchi clearly said he's making this game for all platforms its pretty obvious he didn't make the game just so it could come out on Kinect. Not to mention that he designed an entirely new controller for the game, which leads me to believe that's what the game is intended to be played on.

Honestly, I don't really have much interest in this game, it seems overrated to me and full of smokescreens to mask a game we've all seen before. I don't have Kinect or Move, but all I'm saying is that if I had the choice between the two, I'd play it on the move because I don't consider waving your arms around like an idiot to be gaming.

@(Unverified) That's not what they mean though. They are stating that instead of having Ubisoft or another company do the work on the PS3 version, they are doing it in house. And with only a 30 person development staff, they chose to finish the 360 version before getting the PS3 version in tip-top shape.

Like the 360 version it will be Better with the standard controller. Be sure. Sure people with motion control will attemtpt to convince themselves and others that it's more fun just to justify their purchases.

@Prax I don't think it will. MOve is just Wii HD so Kinect feels a lot more like something new and fresh.

@HaVoK308 With a traditional controller, it feels like a traditional game. I've already stated my feelings for Kinect + CoE, but I'll talk up the Move here:

I'm not trying to justify my purchase and convince you, I'm just going to point out that this is the type of game that will control better with PSMove than with a DualShock 3. Simply because the PSMove is so accurate, it's capable of replicating the precision movement of a Light Gun ... a device most popularity used in on rails shooters.

Stop trying to justify your hatred of motion controllers by stating people who talk them up don't know what they are talking about. Try actually using one, playing a few of the games that really make the devices shine, and then get back on here and start bashing, or god forbid, praising their qualities.

@kcswanko Like I said, I don't have either motion controller nor do I plan on buying one, but just because it's a better version of the Wiimote doesn't mean it's not as good as Kinect. Kinect isn't actually a new technology, just like Move is an updated Wiimote the Kinect is an updated PS Eye, if that's how you want to put it. In any case just because one technology is marketed as different doesn't mean the games on it will be better, it's clear that for the most part Kinect is a piece of trash.

@Snooki the logic is in the idea that you're a "Conductor" in this game. least that's my logic from all the reviews i read, and it seems that the move will be far more accurate and more fun

@HaVoK308 - I'm going out on a limb and guessing that you haven't played the game. Trust me, it's not at all better with a controller. This game is significantly better with Kinect than with the 360 controller and I'm willing to bet that will be the case with Move on the PS3 over Dualshock as well.

@Snooki You have a good point except you lost credibility when you claimed the Kinect to be crap. Tell that to the tons of developers (indy and non) who are coming up with very interesting ways to interact with PC - and I'm not referring to navigating a GUI. Also, some of the upcoming 360 games using Kinect are not too shabby (Children of Eden already proves this).

WIPEOUT HD is amazing in 3D. You should give it a try if you haven't already.

If anything, Hollywood needs to get their act together with this 3D trend and put out more than 2 movies a year worth buying 3D-wise. I got TRON LEGACY simply because it was 5 discs(including the original movie), which was share-bought and given among friends.

@Faceless Troll So don't! I don't care much for 3D either, but instead of bitching about its existence, I continue to not make use of it ... because I don't have to. You don't need to see a film in 3D, you don't need to buy a 3D TV, you don't need to play your PS3 games in 3D, and you don't need to use the 3D slider on 3DS.

There's a future for it, a promising future, and when it comes I'll warm up to it (and there's admittedly some cool stuff now), but until it comes, I'll continue to just ignore it, because I'm in the same boat - I don't like the glasses, I don't want to buy a new television, and I hate all the 3D converted films.

I like when 3D is mentioned as a fad, despite its length of time amongst mainstream media compared to other electronic/virtual equipment. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'll gladly take 3D over the proposed "Virtual Reality" components of the 90s, LoL!

@foxhound how about the fad of 3D in the 1950s or 1980? 3D as a fad is cyclical. It always dies after a few years.

God, I know.
I hate having to keep up with all the cool, new tech. Like all these new phones with touchscreens, woo-hoo. I mean, my old flip-phone still dials numbers just fine, and I don't have to spend so much money. And what's up with all these people and their Tivo's and DVR's? I mean, c'mon people, don't you know how to program a VCR? You can get a VCR for like $2, and save all your money not having some kinda updated HD thingamajig.
Hey, you kids, get off my lawn!!!
And another thing, all these cars are just driving around too fast these days...

I really wish I could've got into this game, but I bought it last Saturday morning and returned it that evening.

The short game length wasn't an issue(as it seems to be for others), but the gameplay and style as a whole just didn't hook me... especially at retail price. I have no one to blame but myself though - I should've just rented it since I was feeling this unease prior... but I did it anyway because I enjoyed LUMINES/REZ.

Maybe when the PS3 version hits, I'll rent it and see if the experience is any different. :\

8-4 are a localization firm in Japan. The podcast is usually hosted by Gaming Jesus Mark MacDonald. He and John Ricciardi are the only former Ziff Davis employees on the show.

It's really enjoyable. They do the usual gaming podcast stuff, that Joystiq has moved on from, of discussing the games they've been playing/working on and the news. It's interesting if you want some inside dirt on Japanese game development, too.
