Mortal Kombat Skarlet DLC problems reported in North America and Europe [update]

It looks like Skarlet's bloody journey into Mortal Kombat has been a tough one. Downloading the new fighter has been tricky for European PS3 users, specifically because Skarlet was never actually added to the PlayStation Store. Rather than Skarlet, the latest update featured a new costume pack -- which was listed at nearly twice the price of the same pack in the US.

Warner Bros. has responded to the issue on Twitter, stating that "some technical issues" caused the problem and that Skarlet will not be available until next week. Furthermore, the price of the costume pack will be corrected to £3.19 in the UK and €3.99 for the rest of Europe.

Meanwhile, in North America, users have been reporting that the Kombat Pass isn't functioning properly on Xbox Live. Once redeemed, Skarlet appears on Xbox Live for 1200 MS Points ($15) -- three times the standalone price -- instead of being free. We've contacted Warner Bros. about the issue.

In the meantime, Netherrealm Studios community manager Rigo Cortes has posted a workaround on Twitter, stating, "If Skarlet DLC is incorrectly showing up as 1200MS points in the game store, exit the game [and] go to the XBL store [through] the console."

Update: Warner Bros. has responded to Joystiq, noting that the problems reported by North American Xbox Live users have been "rectified." Those who ran into issues earlier this week should now find everything as it should be.

I doubt the issue is that the pixels for Skarlet's outfit are taking up too much room.

I'm experiencing some texture pop-in.

It's very odd if you download the Kombat Pass. You need to go back to the dash and also download the compatibility pack in the store as well. Skarlet will then be selectable next to Cyber Sub Zero. Took me a bit to figure it out.

Her outfit is distracting, that's the only problem

There are a lot of issues. Her X-ray move does not work some of the time, her Alt outfit is not in the game, the ending in the ladder won't play for some people and her character does not show up in the Nekropolis so no biography.

@Mika101 I haven't tried this on the 360 but on the PS3 if you go into the Nekropolis and select any other character then press start you will bring up an option to go to the character select screen. You can pick her from there and view her biography, but not any of the stats regarding wins, fatalities etc...

She's a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen....

That picture, that costume. Unless everything below the waist is hidden no thank you.

Worked fine for me too, except now sometimes I can't choose the Scorpion and Sub-Zero MK1 costumes when playing online. Not a huge deal, but they'd better fix it.

This is why I don't buy games with planned DLC. I'd rather wait till everything is on disc and to not pay £100 into 1 game.

Moral of story: they obviously don't care about the fanbase unless they are getting money out of it. Shame, because this is such a great game.

She better look better without her mask then Katana does without hers. Katana has a Michael Jackson nose and a manjaw. Honestly I find Meleena more attractive without her mask.

My friends and I have been having the problem that if we get more than 3 people in a King of the Hill match then it desynchronizes when the matches starts... fail

Great game and all, but every time I see yet another K replacing a C, a little bit of my soul withers.

I guess they're sort of stuck in a rut with that. They can't really just stop using K instead of C right?

When I bought the season pass, it explicitly stated that I was to use the in game store to download Skarlet as I would be charged on XBLA. Confusing, yes, but still.

Yet not a single mention of how they completely broke the online portion of the PS3 version?

If your opponent has not downloaded the Klassic costumes DLC and/or the patch, they don't even show up when you are selecting a character. Also, Kratos is magically missing from the character select screen. Furthermore, if you select an alternate costume, you get an error message "The game session has desynchronized" or some BS. Same thing if you do a Klassic fatality.

It seems like the ONLY time I am able to play a match without any issues is if my opponent has downloaded all of the DLC I have (I have it all).

This is unacceptable, and completely defeats the purpose of their "Compatibility Pack".

And lastly... WHY THE F*@K ISN'T THE COMPATIBILITY PACK MANDATORY?!?!?!?!

What online game lets people play different versions of a game together WITHOUT any sort of compatibility update?!

This is absolutely unacceptable.
