Yeah...I remember looking forward to that "Disaster" game...and then it kind of fell off the map.

@cantwait2bhome Yeah me too. Then Reggie stated NoA didn't think the game is good enough to bring over here, so here's Fling Smash and Wii Play!

Soma Bringer? Nah, here's a collection of public domain books.

Xenoblade? Silence.

$%&^ YOU Nintendo of America!

@hami83 - Having played the first two games you've listed, I can honestly tell you that you're not missing much. Disaster is hilarious in a B-movie kind of way, but it could never be called a good game. And Soma Bringer is every boring JRPG stereotype thrown into one game, although it does have some pretty fantastic music from Yasunori Mitsuda.

Xenoblade, on the other hand, looks fantastic. I WILL MURDER FOR THAT GAME (I won't actually murder for that game).

Yeah, i'm still waiting and hoping for a localization of The Last Story. I'm not a huge fan of JRPGs (or almost any standard RPG, for that matter), but that one did catch my eye.

This is why we don't like region locking, Nintendo.

@Shockwave Oh, that doesn't stop people from being able play any game from any region on the Wii. If I buy the games legally, and if I bought the console legally, fair is fair. But their making the asinine decision to not release these games in the US, is Nintendo condoning its user base to resort to other *ahem* shadier methods in order to play them? You know what, Nintendo, as much as I like you, you have made some really half-a**ed decisions. Yeah, I'm probably making myself flame bait by saying these things, but what do I care? NOA has made some very dimwitted, puerile decisions, like not localizing Mother 3, Xenoblade, Tales of Graces, cancelling the Chrono Resurrection project and not localizing The Last Story. Why? "These games won't do well in the United States"...? HA! What a bunch of BS. I'll believe Obama before I believe Reggie Fils-Aime.

All three of the recent Monolithsoft games can be played by North Americans with a little trickery...

Soma Bringer (DS) has a 100% fan translation available. To play this on the DS, it requires a flash cart.

Disaster: Day of Crisis (Wii) is available in EU with an English translation. US customers can import it, or better yet, pirate it out of protest. The game works on US Wiis, if your Wii is hacked to circumvent region checking, can play DVD-R backups or you're using a USB loader.

Xenoblade (Wii) has been confirmed for a localization for the EU once again. If it doesn't come to the US, we can either import or pirate it.

Nintendo of America's stubbornness should not stop you from playing these games. It didn't stop me from playing Mother 3

Not sure why Monolithsoft HATES America. Disaster: Day of Crisis is an especially odd case, considering the game's main character is a US Marine.

@Horsebird

I don't think it has to do with Monolithsoft, I think Nintendo doesn't want to push any RPGs over here. Same reason we didn't get any Mistwalker games. (Besides, y'know...the kiddy one. Surprise. e_e)

Mother 3 wasn't NoA's stubbornness, but rather Nintendo's altogether. Otherwise it wouldn't have been released as a GBA game in 2006 in Japan, and never even hinted at for any other region

According to NeoGAF, however, NoA is taking player requests for Xenoblade seriously, and there's a mailing campaign on over at IGN, so the two might coincide in our favor for once. Also NoA has moved to extend the Monado (early Xenoblade name) trademark in the USA again, and has also been issued a USPO trademark for The Last Story

NeoGAF has also reported that an NoE rep said Xenoblade was not at E3 because "NoA doesn't want to showcase games it's not planning to sell". My hopes aren't high.

Yeah, you guys nailed it. I'd be a lot more interested in this if Nintendo wasn't pulling the stupid region-lock bullshit again. I'm not even beginning to get my hopes up to see whatever this ends up being. ~.~

I hope Monolithsoft goes bankrupt over this crap. They need to realize that the future isn't in Nintendo and that it's in multiplatform. If they can't develop for all 3 and instead choose to keep their games on a system that nobody is hyped for then they deserve to go down the drain.

@gatotsu911 The only time I post "ill-informed" bile is when I am biased toward that particular company or developer. Or something that is taking away from the players. It's not any more or less ill informed than your bile or everybody else's. I've seen people post some stupid things, a lot dumber than the usual intelligent stuff I post. I only occasionally go off the wall lol

and nintendo of america will keep on failing.... so narrow minded mentality its something i cant expect from nintendo.

lack of good online, region lock and more stupid bshit like not releasing a good game for america its why gamers lost trust and respect for nintendo console and think of it as a secondary and not primary gaming platform...

Stop doing this kind of disservice

We should all just download Wii disc images and play them on a USB HDD just to spite Nintendo. Either that or backup our imported Wii games and play them on a USB hard drive.

Do you really think Wii owners would buy more Xenoblade or The Last Story copies than Fling Smash (that comes with a WiiRemote Plus) or Fortune Street (hint: Mario)?

I'm a Wii owner and I'd prefer Xenoblade or The Last Story, but I'm in the minority.

I just saw copy of this game for 70 bucks on some import site, not bad, I guess. I might buy the game, use a program to, you know...and play The Last Story on my US Wii without getting a Japanese system. Is this what NOA wants, its users to bypass region locking?

Baten Kaitos were some of the best jrpgs of last gen.

I wish that they bring the Last Story and Xenoblade, I already had to play Soma Bringer with a translation patch (and it's great), but doing those patches for wii games is much harder.

Monolith does great games, so I was (and still am) hyped for Xenoblade, while I already lost the hopes for The Last Story (Sakaguchi making a game should be taken more seriously, Nintendo!).
