I smell a cover-up. The real story is that no one can get in contact with him because he's been obsessively driving a Bobcat around the docks.

His advisory role is limited to whispering "let me make Shenmue 3" in the CEO's ear 24/7.

Shenmue 3 is actually already out there. It's a super secret ARG, the secret on how to start playing it can be found on the bottom of the feet of a mini plastic Sonic.

Sega has been making Shemune 3 for years ... making and releasing them that is: go play Yakuza, it's shemune 3 in everything except that the main character isn't a "good guy."

@Fakeassname
I agree in everything but the "good guy" thing. If you're a street punk, Kazuma Kiryu is a walking Buddha that'll savagely BEAT integrity into you. That's my favorite thing about the series; he's a walking tank that'll right every wrong in modern Japanese society. Picking on the homeless? He'll beat you with a jug of "mysterious liquid" until you're giving back to the community.

In other words, Kazuma is 10x the "good guy" Ryo is. All Ryo does is buy hot dogs and get sweaty in the parking lot.

@RickGhastly

yes, god forbid that the main character actually have to resort to mundane ends to solve a problem.

@RickGhastly I never really felt Ryo to be all that good of a guy to be honest when playing through 1 and II; He just seemed like a really selfish "I'LL DO WHAT I WANT" kind of guy, albeit in a calm and reserved kind of way.

Of course, that's part of his charm.

He must be exasperated at how SEGA chucked away their excellent name for innovation and couldn't market their way out of an open bag made of tissue paper.

It doesn't help that he was primarily an arcade designer and his big console game didn't do as well as they'd hoped. The man should be honoured and revered while he's still around. OutRun, Afterburner, Space Harrier, Hang On, Virtua Fighter, Virtua Racing, Daytona, more I don't even know about. One man history of arcades and all great games that actually functioned as games and not just coin guzzlers like the hacks at Midway used to create. Looking at a Yu Suzuki game you just feel the quality and attention to detail in every frame and every screen.

Shenmue isn't perfect, but the world would be a poorer place without it. Probably the last game I played where I felt real magic. There's no magic or even an attempt to capture magic in trash like Call of Duty. I can't wait for this period of mainstream games all being ultra violent crap passes. I know there's still good stuff out there, but I can only take so many indie titles, I would like the occasional big budget truly amazing experience. Certainly not to be found in Valve's games, as high quality as they are they lack something.

@Dick Socrates

shenmue was indeed perfect, its just that the world was into ff games at the time but when i played shenmue 1&2 it makes me want 3 so bad and
3 is coming just not from sega but from ys-net so look for it as a next gen game though.
