Galaga Legions DX explodes all of the aliens June 29th, at least on XBLA

Back in November of last year, Namco Bandai realized that what the Galaga series actually needs is neon lights and 400 trillion more aliens. Since then, the masochistic bullet-hell fanatics in Joystiq's Controller Destruction And Frustration Management Department have been anxiously awaiting Galaga Legends DX, the latest title in Namco Bandai's "Namco Generations" series of classic updates. If you've been sustaining yourself on what few morsels have been released so far, take solace in knowing that your wait will soon be at its end: Andriasang reports that DX will hit XBLA on June 29th for 800 Microsoft Points.

Hop past the jump for the latest trailer, which details your ship's new "Diffuse Fire" technique. Said ability should provide a strategic advantage compared to the Focus Fire technique seen in the last trailer. Sadly, the PSN version is still officially listed as TBD, so xenophobic PlayStation users may have to wait a bit longer to explode their way through space.

well, at least it's still mentioned in the trailer that the PS3 version is coming out. i didn't catch a date anywhere in the video, so i'm assuming that the gap in release dates is regional to the North American market. MS money-hat strikes again. Strange, since Pac-Man CE DX had a simultaneous release.

@laser beams lol MS paid for Galaga arcade game according to the intricate mind of laser beams.

Does it still cost arms and legs and your heads to develop on PS3? And has the development kit become any easier than what it used to?

no it doesn't. in fact, this game was developed simultaneously and has been advertised as coming out to both platforms. so unless MS bought a timed regional exclusivity- this game should be coming to both PSN and XBLA. Pac-man CE DX got a simultaneous release and was a huge hit on both platforms, so i hope this information isn't correct :(

@laser beams MS didn't buy an exclusive for a sequel to a Galaga Legions game that never broke the top 50 in xbla sales. Your PS3 shaped tinfoil hat is on too tight.

I'm not too fond of the art style of Galaga Legions. Too glowy. It hurts my eyes.

Are those cheesy pre-rendered 3D sprites? Ugh... I thought we left that phase behind us when the 90's ended...

Hope that the game still lets you change the look. The only way to play the original Legions is with the retro Galaga skin, IMO. It should be an immediate option in the game.

Oh come on Namco you idiots! :-/ Give me the game on my PS3 the same time as the Xbox 360 version. God i do go off these games companies who mess me about :-/
