I love Aspyr, their ports are wonderful. However, i'm not convinced I should pick this up.

Also, isn't Duke Nukem an Unreal Engine game? I thought OSX doesn't support Unreal yet.

@mguniverse Technically it would be Unreal not supporting OS X, but in this case Aspyr is doing the port, which means it's likely just going to run inside a forked version of WINE so it's not really a port at all, not even a recompile.

BioShock is on OSX. I don't think there is an issue.

Speaking of Unreal, Unreal Tournament 3 which was released on Windows in 2007 was supposed to be released in 2009 for OSX. There was even a coming soon page that has since been taken down. It still hasn't been released.

@mbarriault Aspyr doesn't use WINE wrappers they port natively. They have confirmed that DNF will be native.

@(Unverified) Ah, my bad. I was thinking from Spore and The Sims 3, both of which clearly used Wine (or some other compatibility layer), even the mouse pointer was from Windows (here I was thinking I was done with that damned hourglass), and also thinking that Aspyr ported them to OS X, but just learned they didn't, that was done internally at EA.

@mbarriault Yeah EA used to go to aspyr for ports for those games but not any more... they now use cider. Aspyr never has though.

@mguniverse If the Unreal Engine can work on iOS (Epic Citadel), I see no reason why it wouldn't work on OSX.

You do know that the sauce is what makes the big mac, a big mac.
Along with a bun, patty, and a canister full of chemicals. No wait, that's the sauce.

Aspyr has become worse and worse for ports. Now it takes them years to release stuff. The stuff they do release demands full price, even though it's been out for a long time and dirt cheap. And they don't put it on Steam, they must have their own store so they can keep their crazy pricing. They still haven't ported Stubbs the Zombie from PowerPC to Intel hardware which is pissing me off.

Not to mention the inconsistency regarding patches and expansions on some games.

Doom 3 was a prime example of this; patches for Doom 3 would often times take ages to come out on the mac, therefore completely breaking multiplayer and similar. On top of that, Doom 3 for OS X has everything it needs to support Doom 3 RoE, except for the fact that Aspyr intentionally blocks the loading of the d3xp folder to prevent people from playing an expansion that they didn't want to port in the first place (therefore being an expansion they weren't going to make money off of).

Because Mac users are so high society, they need a unique strategy to play a low-brow game.

They don't fart, drink, or look at porn on Apple devices like the lower classes do with their PCs.

Duke Nukem should of been given out with big macs like those sneak king games at burger king.

It would of been a more appropriate way to sell that game.

Can someone tell me what women Duke saves?

From what I played of the game, the girls all get abducted, raped, implanted with Alien eggs, and then either blow up or you have to kill them before they explode.

@lonecow He saves the one in Duke Burger who was sitting on a box keeping away from the electrified water on the ground. But yeah the rest he had to euthanize.
