Shortly before last summer's release of Limbo – that year's top Xbox Live Summer of Arcade title "by a long stretch" – the ESRB erroneously listed the PlayStation 3 and PC platforms in addition to the Xbox 360. Developer Playdead's Dino Patti told us, "We are only launching the title on XBLA. You won't see a PS3 or PC version this time around, sorry."
However, like other Summer of Arcade indie exclusives before it including Braid and Castle Crashers, Limbo could make an appearance on Sony's platform after a period of exclusivity ... like, say, a year or so. The Korean Game Ratings Board has a listing for Limbo filed by Sony Computer Entertainment Korea. It so happens that the GRB has a pretty strong track record, outing Xbox Live Arcade titles like Fruit Ninja Kinect and Sega Rally Online Arcade. Before you get your hopes up, we've reached out to Playdead for a comment on the listing.

This picture summarizes why the "forest" in Limbo terrified me.

Games like this , are the reason why " fanboys " suck donkey ballz and owners of both 360/PS3 are in a win win situation.........therefore by default we are also 10x smarter , attractive and have massive tallywhackers

Wasn't there a LBP2 level that mimicked Limbo? I heard they were comparable.

This game should definitely be on more platforms. I played it when it came out last summer and I think everyone should experience the weirdness of this game. :)

If this happens, PS3-only users should most definitely download this game. Yes, it's short, but it is simply amazing. I loved every second of it and cannot recommend it enough to people. Great stuff. I hope more people get to play this one. It deserves a larger audience.

Yeah, I bought a PS3 over an Xbox 360 simply because Sony's disc-based exclusives appealed to me more than Microsoft's.
I still regret not taking XBLA's exclusives into consideration when making my purchase, though.
Super Meat Boy, Limbo, 'Splosion Man, Perfect Dark, Banjo Kazooie and all those damn Treasure games would've made quite a persuasive argument while I was mulling the systems over in Best Buy. PSN exclusives, while generally quite impressive in terms of quality (I still play Super Stardust HD), are simply too few and far between when compared to XBLA's catalog.
I'm not exactly made out of money, but I figure that the next price cut Microsoft doles out, I'll snag a 'box.
Ikaruga alone is worth the price of admission, though it would be nice to finally play Super Meat Boy with something other than a stupid f*cking keyboard.

I second this. I hated on Limbo forever after hearing it was only a few hours long at a $15 price point. Once it had a 50% off sale, I got around to buying it, and only just last week or so got around to playing it. It wasn't too long before I felt like a total d-bag for hating on it all that time.
The game absolutely deserves all the high praise it gets. It's the definitive argument for video games as art. But not in the tacked-on way of Braid where it's basically all story based and loosely tied to the gameplay and sequence of events . With Limbo, every action in that game, every second of gameplay, is a testament to it as an artistic piece. And this is all without even the slightest bit of narrative outside the gameplay.
Also, as a side note: the game is surprisingly dark and gritty. I wasn't expecting that all going into it but was welcomely surprised to find that out as I played

First rumors of Castlevania:Hamony of Despair being ported and now this... PSN can keep those sloppy seconds; Castlevania felt dated and Limbo really put me to sleep. If developers really want to screw over the original buyers buy releasing updated verisons on different system, they can keep it.
Posted: Jun 29th 2011 11:28AM Uraeus said
@The Doom - screw over the buyers of the original game? They have gotten a full year exclusivity which I would think is just as good as getting some bonus stuff a year later. Cut the game devs some slack please, because with attitudes like you they are in a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation. Listened to this great interview with Gabe Newel recently and as he pointed out, there are always a lot more things they want to do than they actually have the time and money to do, so you got to make hard choices. And for an independent developer to do staged releases, in order to make things viable for their budget, where they sugar the pill for the first platform with a period of exclusivity and then sugar the pill for the later platforms by adding some extra stuff is not being mean or assholes, it is just making ends meet and making it tempting for people to get a 'year old game'.

Because as soon as it's multi-platform, every copy purchased earlier stops working.
Now, without sarcasm, WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

I don't like the fact I paid money for a game and then suddenly a better verison of it comes out. It's almost as if I should've waited to buy it (or waited to get ALL dlc). This is what happened with Eternal Sonata, Tales of Vesperia, Star Ocean 4, Ninja Gaiden 2, Dragon Age, Mass Effect 2, Braid, Street Fighter IV, Fallout etc, etc,!! What was dick move from developers nowadays; only caring about money. Those stupid *******...

That's like complaining about seeing a movie in theaters and then complaining when you see the same movie in a $7 DVD bin full of extra features that people can watch OVER AND OVER. What a rip off! How dare those filmmakers have theatrical releases!

This is BS they get turned down by Sony or weren't interesting enough for them ,but the minute the game is a success else where they want to lure it on to their console & say that they were behind it but just wanted to see how it performed on the other platform. BS Microsoft should keep it exclusive or buy the MF.

it's been exclusive for over a year, man, isn't that enough? besides, this isn't even confirmed yet and you're already flipping out. share the wealth and whatnot...by the time it comes out for psn users, how is it still even relevant to you? there will likely be another great xbla exclusive out at the time that will have psn fans hoping for a release...like fez, insanely twisted shadow planet, bastion, trenched, etc. etc. xbla is so far ahead of psn in terms of content and quality that it can't possibly matter that much to you if they get a few morsels every now and then, at least a YEAR after they were first enjoyed on the 360.
just look at it this way, if more people buy limbo, regardless of what platform it's on, the higher the chances are that playdead will be able to continue releasing great games on your beloved 360.

I really didn't "get" this game. I play a pretty wide variety of games so I can appreciate a lot. But I got this game on sale for maybe half off and that was too much. I don't why it has so much praise attached to it. It is a visually bland slow paced side scroller if you ask me.

Loved it. It had essentially zero story... But if you look closer at the environment, and even the title screen, you can start to pull what happened together. It was brilliant.

I highly recommend that PS3 owners get it right away if it comes out on the PS3.
