Cool. I hate NOA right back, by not buying a Nintendo 3DS, their new Wii, or the fact I haven't bought a Wii game in 2 years. Mission Accomplished NOA, now keep up the Shovelware! Death to all originalm fun games, like Mother 3!

Thank a lot to the Wii owners who let the core games rot on store shelves. This is how Nintendo feels about America. Too many have bitched and moaned that there are no good core Wii games, yet the ones that are there and are good have sold underwhelmingly. Nintendo probably feels the demand is just not there based on how poorly the core games have been received.

Compared to what?

Sure the "Core games" may have seemed to sell like shit compared to the install base of the Wii in the US, but guess what?! 100% of the games were purchased by core gamers, while not a 100$ of the Wii owners are core gamers.

can you list some titles that you think are "core" games that maybe I or other readers have ignored?

NMH was decent; I didn't like Madworld; Conduit/Red Steel aren't bad but I don't like FPS's; Arc Rise looks really average; FF:CC Crystal Bearers was the biggest disappointment I've ever had with a game; I already owned Okami and RE4; I bought Tri but didn't get hooked; Silent Hill was scary good til the Ice Capades... so that leaves Sin & Punishment 2 -- one of my favorite games of the generation which I bought the day it came out, and again when I lost it during a move.

Battalion Wars 2, Deadly Creatures, and Fragile are the the only games I regret not having picked up yet. Am I missing anything?

Rune Factory Frontier - From the creator of Harvest Moon. It's like if Diablo/Pokemon/Harvest Moon had a baby. It is VERY addicting and one of the best games nobody has played.

Or rather the torn, empty hole of what used to be the Tree of Core, with parts of its jagged roots still left sticking from the gaping wound in Nintendo-based gaming.

Those games are not published by Nintendo. They're Ubisoft crapware.

These three games (The Last Story, etc) are Nintendo-published properties. It's entirely NoA's fault if these are not published, especially since Xenoblade is already getting an English translation in the EU.

More like NoA is focusing on.... well, I don't know what. What are they publishing these days? Ocarina of Time 3D? More copies of Fling Smash?

Problem is even if they release them the ammount they'll sell isn't what everyone expects them to be. It'll be roughly what Nintendo expects (perhaps more) but it's not a high number. HOwever, NoA doesn't have much work to do or much risk. If they port these games over I'd buy them, and so would about 4 other friends. Saddly, I'd then had 20 friends who'd just download them.

Softmodding for region free is easy as hell, really. Just look up "Twilight Hack." Still works for anyone with a copy of Twilight Princess, and there are other solutions for other games

that info regarding the hack is horribly out of date, but you're still right.

NA customers may have to resort to modding their wiis in order to play imported copies. assuming those customers still want to give nintendo any money after this move.

It's possible, but until now, Xenoblade is the only game confirmed for Europe (a Nintendo of France rep confirmed The Last Story, but I'm still skeptical about it).

As a european myself... to be honest? I can't help but point and laugh about all the games lately that we've got but you guys haven't. There have been -countless- games that we in europe never even got in the past.

Like for example, oh, the -entire- Final Fantasy series before 7. Crystalis, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Breath of Fire, Xenogears, Xenosaga, Super Mario RPG, Tales of Destiny 1 and 2, Tales of Legendia, Tales of the Abyss... and many examples I can't remember off the top of my head. We missed out on all of those. Europe used to be the game industry's Third World.

But it's your turn now... :p

I like how Nintendo treats their core gamers,

"We care about you, we really do!"

"Wait... what? You expect games to show we care? Games that appeal...to...you... that aren't Mario based? That sounds crazy. Why speak such nonsense?"

"Look, the bottom line is we don't care what games you want to play that aren't ours. You'll suck at Mario's teet while Yoshi donkey punches you, and you'll damn well like it!"

"Don't forget, we currently have no plans to care about you!"

"Oh yeah! Please by our Wii U, it's super seriously catered to you idiots for sticking around so long"

Meanwhile they have Donkey Kong sitting around the corner, lurking in the shadows, ready to piss on anyone that dares buy a Wii U thinking the core gamer would be taken care of there.

@Mmmmz It's also a wonder the Europe is even getting it. I just don't understand why the Big Three continue to pull this crap. If you're translating it into English anyway there's no reason not to send it over here. It's one thing to not localize something Japanese at all, but once you do it you still smack some region? Stupid business.

Still, the euro region gets screwed more than we do, for now, so it's hard to be too nerd ragey about this but it's still stupid business.

At least someone is getting a break.

Hey, I agree, and for the most part I think they do a pretty great job. I thought the Wii was very well supported by Nintendo until recently. We got some great updates to classic franchises including a new Fire Emblem, new Punch Out!!, new Sin and Punishment, new A Boy and His Blob, and a new DKC. We also had some amazing mainstay titles like Galaxy 1 & 2, Metroid Prime 3, SSBB, and Mario Kart Wii. But come on, guys. Keep me hooked on Nintendo games, Nintendo. I guarantee I'll love every second of Skyward Sword, but that's all you're willing to dish? Yeesh.

@A Sandwich Dude, the Zelda they have been promising for years for the Wii isn't even out yet... And it looks like gimmicky garbage. Nintendo is dead. Move on. Don't feed into their marketing scheme for the Wii U. Nintendo is now in the business of selling hardware, not games.
