If you were hoping that Bungie Aerospace would be a new action-packed game from the venerable Halo developer, well ... we don't think we could disappoint you more than we're about to right now.
Bungie Aerospace (the trademark for which first popped up in early 2010) is a partner program in which the AAA powerhouse will team with social and mobile devs, giving them "creative freedom and the resources they need, like access to the Bungie.net platform and an audience with the incredible Bungie community." The release stops short of calling Bungie the publisher of these products, but it certainly reads that way.
The first dev getting the Bungie bump is Seattle's Harebrained Schemes, a studio run by Jordan Weisman, of I Love Bees/FASA Interactive/Wizkids fame. It's an intriguing partnership, but we won't get our hands on the results until this summer when a game codenamed "Crimson" (which Aerospace trademarked in May) hits iOS and Android.
You know, we're excited by the news, but we can tell this isn't what some of you were hoping for. ... Hmm. Well, what if we told you "Crimson" has Master Chief in it?
It doesn't, but what if it did? (It doesn't.)

I haven't read the article yet, but are you saying Bungie's making a new social mobile game with Master Chief in it? Hell yeah! Not sure why others are disappointed. (/joke)

@CaptainProtonX I never read articles on this site as I am illiterate. I am, however; a wealthy shut in. (inheritance from a steel magnate) I have my surrogate type all my dissenting and odious opinions. I merely post to be a smarmy jerk. Since he is incapable of reading what I, the surrogate, am typing I will confess that I wank off in his soda pop. The fat git.

Epic and now bungie have turned to the mobile platform. This could be interesting or disastrous for the gaming industry as a whole.

@Darki Dreamside I'm leaning towards interesting. How could good affordable games be a disaster?

I guess that's cool that Bungie is "publishing" / helping out indie developers with mobile games for the iOS and Android but this really didn't need to be teased at all. This is just disappointing for the vast majority of people.
A simple press release with no hype beforehand would have been much better.

@ikaden Disappointment is only possible from one perspective though. I'm an iOS/PC gamer so from my side of the street another new interesting player has entered the part of the industry I enjoy so it's all win over here.

Agreed. Everything developers do now they decide to tease. From teasing about things not game related to teasing about teasing us, it really is getting ridiculous. Soon we will have developers taking to twitter to tease their upcoming bowel movements.

Q. So, it’s not your next big game?
Nope. But you should still be excited. Great games are awesome, no matter who makes them.

Bungie has officially gotten too full of themselves. Interesting idea but lame that they sold out their community like a spammers list to turn a buck. Someone should banhammer them.

nowhere does it say that their partners will have a list of emails or gamertags. you're overreacting without sufficient information.

If you go to bungies websites they said there still working on there next project im pretty sure were not going to hear about it for awhile like until E3 next year.
But i think this is a great idea for them to help out small devs make great games, im trying to be a videogame desighner after college so if i do have trouble i would go to them.

I'm not disappointed at all. Now, if Bungie Aerospace was a merger with Boeing, sure. That'd be a sad day.

"Actually, we’re completely committed to building our next big action universe (noses to the grindstone and all that). Bungie Aerospace allows us to partner with small teams and help THEM make their kick ass games while we stay laser focused on ours. The mobile developers we’ve hired, and will hire, are working on secret stuff we can’t talk about yet"

That kind of stuff is par for the course on official forums, especially with a community as bad as the one on bungie.net. Hell, the OP of that thread has posted that multiple times. It's a sad, sad place, but it only represents an incredibly small portion of what they're referring to as the Bungie community.
I think it's more to give hype to projects that would otherwise go unnoticed. Slap the Bungie name on it, and more people will be paying attention. With cheap games for smartphones, a little bit of attention is all you really need to be successful.

All that hype over mobile games development? I guess after Halo, Bungie ran out of ideas and just pure gave up. R.I.P. Bungie

It's what I thought it would be: basically the new social backbone to the series of games they are planning to release with Activision. They couldn't just keep bungie.net. It needs a new name (Aerospace) and in this case also has opportunities for more social integration through partners.

Why would they go from making one of the most known games of the decade to iPhone games. The new angry birds? That the most and only known iPhone game of the past year or so =

I've been hoping that they were getting into the actual aerospace game.
