Final Fantasy Tactics iOS delayed until late July, Square is very sorry
28
Listen, potential purchasers of Square Enix's iOS port of Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions -- the game's development team is going to need one more extension. You know they're good for it! According to the game's Facebook page, the team had to put a little extra TLC into the port to ensure it runs as butter-smooth as you expect. With sincere apologies, a representative announced the game's iPhone arrival is now slated for "July...twen..blah..blah," while the iPad version will come a month later. So, August...twen..blah..blah, then.
The apology also came with a quick FAQ, which revealed that the game will not be compatible with iPhone 3G devices, nor will it contain any multiplayer modes. What will it contain, then? Well, Chocobo, for one thing. Also, Firaga.

Speak of the 'TACTICS earlier, LoL...
Well, at least it hasn't ceased conversion/production efforts yet. Though the idea of being multiplayer is somewhat tantalizing...

So, it just a straight port, then?
I'm still interested to see how it would look on the iPad, though.

I see FFT on a Whiteboard and all I can think of is many haunting days in electrical engineering classes discussing discrete Fourier transforms...

Hahaha, I remember the CE majors complaining about those transforms in my CS classes.lol, good times.
Ot: I've yet to play this game. The lag in the psp version killed that one for me :(

Don't you mean Fast Fourier Transforms? (or are they the same? can't remember lol )
Anyway, as long as Squenix don't make a sequel and ruin Tactics, I'm happy :^) (this rule also applies for Vagrant Story and FF6. Seriously Squenix, stop shitting over your past glories). /rant

In other news FFT appeared on PSN a few days ago. I was waiting for the iOS port but 7.99. For FFT. Right now.
PSN won.

Yeah, but keep in mind this is the PSP port, which had enough major improvements to make a big difference.
Heck, just having a few extra character slots so you don't have to fire as many people in the fourth act made it worthwhile.

I can literally taste the fanboyic vitriol in your post. If you're not smart enough to understand why iOS is preferred over Android by developers like SE then you're not smart enough to talk ever again.

If the lag problem from the PSP version is completely gone by the time this releases, the wait will have been worth it.

Oh, btw, why not add the multiplayer? Other OS games have it, you already have it, how hard is this game to port? So hard we can't even bring the whole thing? Okay, leave the multiplayer out, but give us some hope that it'll eventually come in an update. Why not? It's too hard to port? You'll have plenty of time to create a patch w/multiplayer. We've waited this long, we can wait for multiplayer.
Last year I almost bought a PSP just to play this, but then I heard it was coming to Iphone. So I waited. I'm still waiting, and I'll keep waiting if it means I get to play one of the greatest games of all time in the best condition possible. I just wish I knew more about SE's plans concerning their products, instead of rumors.
(while we're wishing, Kingdom Hearts 3/FF6 GBA version released would be a dream. But I'm not holding my breath)

Hey man, it's mostly a matter of taste and preference. Not something to die over. Plus the reason the Android sales are up is b/c everyone already has iphones/ipod touches.

Um, you know you can play PS1 games on the Android just fine right? I have FFT already on my Android. Plays very well too.
So do Breath of Fire 3, Suikoden and Final Fantasy V.

I'm bored with my iPod. I'd rather have a real handheld game system with buttons. I'm sick of using the touchscreen to swipe, poke, prod, pinch, pull, tap, my games.

A question, if FFT is going be for IOS, does it mean it will play on IPad too?

@Luk
There will be 2 versions one for iPhone/iPod and iPad later on that way Square can make more money like they do on all the iOS game releases. Why they can't come out with universal ones like most company's do these days is beyond me.

I have a psp in fact I have 2 psp's a psone a ps2 I have FFT for each. The psone is a classic and I enjoy it the Psp version though nice has that damn slow down which killed it for me it made me cry a little on the inside. The iOS version is my hope for a good somewhat updated version.
