Red Dead Redemption DLC announcement coming soon, quadruple XP now

If you're ready to quick-draw some funds from your bank account, and your trigger finger is itching to click "buy", you'll be pleased to know that some new Red Dead Redemption DLC is on the way. We don't exactly know when, but Rockstar mentioned on Twitter that the release date and details for this unnamed pack will be revealed "in the coming weeks." Maybe this time it'll be about old-west Draculas, or invisible cowboys.

In the meantime, if you're looking for something to do in the currently released RDR content, Rockstar is hosting a quadruple XP event through Monday. Your cowpoke will get four times as grizzled!

Update: The new DLC is likely the free "Fan Appreciation DLC" announced during E3, with new "fan-favorite" multiplayer characters, and new content for various multiplayer modes.

Just what the cheaters of Red Dead Redemption needed. Now let's get rid of the real problem, starting with this list of cheaters who use modified controllers, lag switches, and glitches.

Nice, I hope the DLC is more single player content. The multiplayer stuff is cool, but it doesn't hold a candle to the campaign.

It goes from "12:01AM Eastern this Friday July 1st and running until 11:59 PM Eastern on Monday July 4th." Hope that saves someone from some disappointment tonight.

Holy crap I thought they were done. I am very excited about this.

Red Undead Noire, featuring vampire Phelps and zombie Marston investigating a serial killer werewolf.

I thought they'd have restrictions on how much DLC you could put out for a title.

For example I'm quite the trophy collector, and I finished the game with only 26% because of all the DLC... which I can't afford, Undead Nightmare is another NZ$45 from the store, and my internet connection is too dodgy for online play. -_-

Sony, plz put out the ability to delete trophy scores or something.

If it's the Platinum Trophy you're worried about, you'll still earn it for getting all of the main disc trophies. DLC trophies don't factor into the Platinum. It just looks wierd, when looking through a trophy list, and seeing a Platinum trophy icon next top a progress bar that only reads 68% complete!

havent played this in a while, perfect timing, was getting bored on zombies :D

I just beat the game recently, so this is pretty cool. Didn't touch the multiplayer at all, though, is it fun?

There's fun to be had in the multiplayer, you should try it. That said, single player is the real star of the show IMO.

@buster42 If you get in a good server where people aren't griefing and geniuently want to posse up and take down challenges, it's fun.

If you get on a server with a bunch of people who just want to run around and murder you/snipe you from afar while you're trying to accomplish things, it SUCKS.

@buster42 Great stuff, well worth it. Boatload of multiplayer games to get your teeth into and gives so much longevity to the game. I've been playing the multiplayer pretty much since I finished the single game and it doesn't get old.

Having quadruple multiplayer this weekend is sweet. Time to get Jack Swift back in the game.

Wasn't zombies supposed to be the last one? Who cares, I'm so excited.

I was fixin to get back into RDR. Now I have no excuses not to get back into it.

I hope it's single player content, but I doubt it will be.

Undead nightmare was fantastic - probably my favorite bit of DLC of all time.

Really hope this is single-player content! I will happily through that RDR disc back in for another DLC mini-campaign!

I hope it's a new type of horse.

Maybe there is still a chance to get RDR on the PC, as they'll give it the full edition with all the DLC bundled, similar to how The Witcher 2 on the 360 will get all the DLC bundled in and Mass Effect 2 for PS3.

Why do we not have anything like The Ballad of Gay Tony for this game? A full expansion pack set in the same environment, with a new lead and story. They could easily touch up some environments and take out Blackwater almost entirely and just set it in the past. They keep pushing a pretty neat, but ultimately boring online mode, even after Undead Nightmare blew everyones socks off.

Singleplayer DLC is what the majority of us want. PLEASE.

I've got to say, Red Dead's multiplayer has been one of the most unique and fun gaming experiences I've had all year.

@Crimsic I agree it is fun, but the enjoyment is hinged on having a LARGE group of friends willing to play together, because the VAST majority of the free roam games are just 3-4 people teams running around aimlessly with little to no cooperation.

Just like GTAIV's multiplayer. I had one or two free roams that were just pure epic. People were flying helicopters into streets full of people doing drivebys and wrecking eachothers cars, and tilting the blades perfectly to "sweep" the street and kill 5-6 people before the blades snapped and the helicopter flipped end over end and exploded on a building.

I then spent the rest of my 40+ hours of multiplayer in that game searching in vain for a match even remotely close to that match.

I'd like to see more single player with the addition of dinosaurs.
