EA celebrates Independence Day with a massive sale
33
Rather than watching your grandma mouth along the words to Lee Greenwood's timeless Americana classic "God Bless the USA" one more time this Independence Day, wouldn't you rather giver her a run for the money in one of the many Hasbro Family Game Night games? EA's offering just such a possibility, putting nine of its Hasbro titles on XBL up for sale at 50 percent off, and offering a swath of deals on other platforms on July 4th.
Perhaps you were looking to freedom-ize the necromorphs of Dead Space on iPad during your independence celebration? That's also on sale for .99 cents, alongside a handful of other iOS titles. And if you're more of the PC type, everything from Mass Effect 2 ($12) to Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit ($18) is marked down on Origin.

I still say Jenga is the dumbest video game ever.

Well, I don't know how the straight-up Jenga game is, but I thought the mini-game in Boom Blox that was like Jenga was pretty awesome. I've had lots of fun playing that with friends.

Of course, that's for Wii, so after reading this better, I realize that, yeah, Jenga for 360 would be kind of dumb. It would be kind of bland using a regular controller for that kind of thing.

@Zoot Suit Jedi Grammar Hammer En - It's also cavernous, in that it is dank and musty. There's also the fact that it gets warmer as you go deeper. When the moon is up, there is a real risk of getting flooded out.

Sorry EA, but Valve already stole my heart and my wallet with the steam sale. Maybe next time...

Doesn't help that a majority of these games were much cheaper during the Steam Christmas sale. This is just a ripoff, and a poor attempt to try and one-up Valve.

Dantes Inferno for $10 on PSN please

exactly, 2010 games like assasin creed, red dead, and super street fighter 4 I would gladly pay $20 for a PSN download with no resale prospects. But for on the fence games that are a year old, I would only buy on a sale.
I'm fat and lazy, I dont want to get up and have to change discs every game. SONY should really look into increasing the PSN library

Hasbro Family Game Night still feels like a ripoff at 400 MSP each. I'd much rather pay 1200 MSP for all the games put together. They're far too expensive on their own.

Valve took all my summer money. Dead Space is a second-rate clone of L4D anyways.

Years ago I've changed my definition of a holiday to any day that you can have a sale because of an event. Like the Superbowl.

EA gets an "A" for effort but an "F" on what they are offering.

And of course, this sale is not in effect over here in Germany. Meanwhile, the Steam sale is bigger AND for everyone. I don't even have words for that. It's like they don't even WANT to compete with Steam.

More than likely not, EA is trying to push their Origin service, so why help out the competition?

I just got Bad Company 2 for $5 on Amazon. I had it for the 360, but now that I have a gaming rig capable of playing it, I couldn't pass it up for $5. Origin's prices seem above the sales that are happening everywhere else, which is odd considering that they kind of need to be price competitive to lure people over.
