You know that amazing glow you feel for a few weeks after getting back with an ex who screwed you over horribly? Yeah. That's about to end.
Sony's Welcome Back program ends tomorrow, July 3, taking all your dreams of free content, a white picket fence and an abuse-free relationship with it. Sony is offering free games, virtual items from PlayStation Home and 30 days of PlayStation Plus for jilted users to choose from. If you've been procrastinating, redeem your free content through the Welcome Back tab on your PS3 and, if you have any questions, hit up the PlayStation Blog. But whatever you decide, don't ever forget to put the toilet seat down again.
[Thanks, skyline9734!]

So almost bye bye PSN+, it was ok, IMO not worth it tet, disccounts in random games or free random games for a fee is still weird

@Vidaluko Well, if you activated you ps+ the day the welcome back program was released, then yep.
I activated it on the 24th so I still got plenty of PS+ and althought I still think it's a bit expensive, I've enjoyed the free games and the 60 min, trials.

Yeah, it's too bad, most people active involved in gaming already had all these. The only ones I personally didn't were the PSP titles which I wasn't going to get anyhow (seeing as how I haven't even finished Peace Walker yet speaks volumes as to how disinterested I've become with that unit).

What if there was a hiccup in redeeming one of the games? They tell me to check my account settings in order to redeem for the free game, but their web based site is *still* down, and I can't access PSN on my PSP. Any chance it will still work if I've redeemed the game but haven't yet picked a game, or that they'd extend the deadline for those cases?

You can always use an alternate account to grab the "missing" title(s). That's what happened to me on one of Little Big Planet for the PSP.
It only helps though if your alternate account pre-dates the PSN outage.

Q: When does the 30 days of my PlayStation Plus access expire?
A: Your PlayStation Plus 30-day access will expire 30 days from the date you activated it in PlayStation Store.
If you haven't activated it yet, activate it by tomorrow and get 30 days still. After reading all the comments, I don't know if people really understand the difference between the Welcome Back program and the 30-day trial for PSN+ that we were all given.

Is the console the original one that the PSN account was made on?
Say for example you bought a slim when you had a older fat ps3 and threw that one out.
If that's the case, you will probably have to phone sony about that.

@SpiderPrime I've phoned them and their answer was basically "we don't know what's going on, they told us it would be up weeks ago. Sorry!" I'm guessing people who got locked out because sony had the foresight to put the password recovery into maintenance mode right after PNS went back up will be unable to get any of the swag they're offering.

He only ever had a PSP. He has never had another PSN capable device. Until this situation he had never logged in via the website, or anything else either.
We tried to log in every way I know how. On Saturday he did give up and call Sony. I do not know what happened after that.

Did anyone else mess up the order in which you were supposed to claim the game, thus keeping you from getting one of the free games at all?
They could have done the process better. Why show eight items you're not supposed to click on first, and one that you are, only to then tell you to go back and find the right order? First expose *only* the item needed to claim one of the free games, *then* expose the eligible games.

FYI. You can download 2 PS3 games AND 2 PSP games, regardless of whether you have both systems or not. I currently DO NOT own a PSP but was able to download LBP and Killzone for it and hope to play them on my PS Vista. Knowing is half the battle...Go COBRA.

And yet it was still as awesome as when I didn't have it. I still see no good reason to have it. I didn't even use it to it's full potential when it was free for a month. Awesome job!

Very dodgy but I had the same problem where after downloading the first free game I couldn't download the second. Turns out you need to follow the process below to get the 2nd game. IF I didn't know any better I'd be inclined to think Sony wanted to make it just a little bit more difficult to get that second game.
Q: I no longer have the option to choose my free Welcome Back games. What can I do?
A: If you navigate away from the Welcome Back section of the store without choosing your free games or exit the store completely you may need to follow the below in order to choose and download your free games.
On your PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Portable navigate to the PlayStation Network icon on the XMB
Log into your PlayStation Network account and choose Account Management > Transaction Management > Services List
Choose “PlayStation Network Promotions” from the list of services displayed
Select either “PS3 Free Games” or “PSP Free Games” and then choose “Select Content”
You will be taken to the store to choose your remaining free games.

Did Sony take down the WB package off early? I went to get the 30 day trial now and can't find anything about any WB Package anywhere, not even the link they had for it at the top. I got everything except the free trial which I was going to do today on the last day. It's 1155am MST 7/3 where I'm at. Everything I read was saying it would all go away tonight, like 12am Sunday night/Monday morning?
Posted: Jul 3rd 2011 2:24PM xxZOMBIExx said
Yep it's been taken down, things are heating up on the Playstation Blogs because they clearly stated that the WB package would be available THROUGH July 3rd and or would be removed AFTER July 3rd. Supposedly the Home items are still up and available, but the WB promo is gone from the PS Store on PS3 and PSP.
People have called in to cust service, but getting no help. Sony is going to HAVE to put it back up for at least another day or two for this "false advertising" of it supposedly being up through the 3rd and then taking it down a day early.
Even if they say they were going by Asia's standard time that is completely messed up. If anything it should be through whichever time zone changes to the 4th the last. So for instance if that's Pacific Time then once California changes to the 4th then that's when it should have been taken down, even though by that time the east coast would already be into the 4th by 2-3 hours. Sony royally screwed up yet again!!!

I also just tried the Home stuff. While it IS there and lets you add to your basket thing whatever (I haven't used Home in like forever so the whole layout and stuff was completely new to me) it DOESN'T let you download the stuff. It's full now and I go to "checkout" so it could DL or whatever and it gives an error saying the content is not available.
The Home stuff I don't care about. I was going to get it just to get it, in case it ever got better to use in the future or whatever, but the 30 day free trial I was wanting the most and so upset with Sony now. They really screwed people over because you know that they knew a lot of people were going to wait till the last day to use their free trial. Especially since a lot of the PS+ content that got released since it's been back up has been pretty crappy. All the talk about having updates twice a week never happened.
I bet anything they were waiting to put some of the better PS+ content when majority of the free trials expired and also taking it down a day early so that way a lot of others couldn't get it. Definitely smells of a scam by Sony.... Yet again.... To think I still supported them just because I'm a gamer, I don't care about particular consoles. Very POOR customer service.

I too just called into Sony and received no resolution from customer service. Here's their rationale:
It's the fourth of July in Japan. That's right - we should have known that the blog post made by the Senior Director of the Playstation Network at Sony Computer Entertainment of AMERICA was really referencing Japanese dates.
In light of the blog post's location on the US site and being authored by this person, I feel this is unreasonable.

Quotes:
"Q: When will I have access to the Welcome Back Program?
A: The content offered as part of the Welcome Back Program is available for download today and will be available through July 3."
"Q: How long do I have to get into the PlayStation Store and receive my content for Welcome Back?
A: Access to the Welcome Back content will be expiring on July 3. Once this date has passed, the Welcome Back section in the PlayStation Store will be removed."
