With Wii U, Mario will use two screens and Zelda won't look like this
91
Yoshiaki Koizumi, producer of the Super Mario series, has his team working on a new Mario game for the Wii U, even though he didn't know what Nintendo's new console would even look like prior to its unveiling at E3. In an interview with Wired, Koizumi said now that he knows what the Wii U can do, he wants to "create a console game where two people are playing at the same time but can't see each others' screens." You know, much like how the internet operates, but without all those messy tubes.
Legend of Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma also spilled some secrets about the HD demo Nintendo used to show off its new graphics -- mainly, don't believe everything you see. "You probably remember that when we introduced the GameCube, we showed a somewhat realistic Zelda demo," Aonuma said. "And what we actually created was the cel-shaded Wind Waker. So when we show a graphic demo, people think, 'Oh, this is what the next Zelda will look like,' but that's not necessarily the case." Secrets and lies, Nintendo. Secrets and lies.

Me too.
If I didn't want to see the other persons Screen I'd just use my DS/3DS.
How is this innovative?

I've got to agree on sandwich with this one. The Wii U is "innovative" and "new". Since it was poorly presented at E3, most people don't know its potential. So far with what I've seen and heard about, it really excites me. The concept of a touch-screen interface for a home console and being able to stream the content to the controller if desired, is indeed a great and innovative concept.
Reggie CEO of Nintendo of America stated that they have only showed 20% of Wii U full potential. I don't understand how you people can accuse the Wii U at such an early time. Nintendo has only shown the basic concept of the system at this time, which is in my opinion is- "genius".
@Extinction
Sorry, Nintendo did that first, with a plan of gameboy connectivity to the Nintendo 64. Then later on, "innovative" Gamecube connectivity with the gameboy advance made exclusive for the Legend Of Zelda four swords adventures.

Why do you want everyone to like WiiU so much? It's not a big deal if some ppl don't like the controller. Nintendo is still making it.

Unless its a direct sequel to a previous game, I'll be surprised if zelda doesn't look like that. A proper wind waker sequel would be awesome, but a full game based on the tech demo would be cool too.

But..but... that Zelda demo was AWESOME! Give us realistic HD Zelda or GTFO.

No, Cell Shade all the way,
Wind Waker is one of the most beautiful games ever made,
even today replaying through it, it's amazing how much brilliant detail went into it's character and environment design.
Twilight Princess on the other end of the spectrum was a very average and forgettable experience.

I always loved it.
I think the main reason is changing tastes, or perhaps evolving tastes,
it was unlucky enough to be dropped in the beginning of the period where people where going crazy for realistic graphics and people thought of the Wind Waker as "kiddy and immature",
but after awhile everybody got sick of the bland "grey and brown" style's tons of games where taking and started loving alternative styles again with games like Okami and the Super Mario Galaxy's and of course Minecraft.

I'm fine with less realism in my Zelda. I do like the Skyward Sword style even though I hear some people hate it. They tried the realism with Twilight Princess and it didn't work well (among many other things in the game) in my opinion. Still a good game but my least favorite Zelda game. Okami outclassed it in every way.

I remember it. Although I did and still do enjoy the art direction of WW I don't understand all the praise and recognition it gets from the fandom nowadays. Dungeon design was average compared to LA, OoT, MM and TP.
It was lacking that enormous structure that changed the entire dungeon layout in a heartbeat like the pillars in Eagle Tower (LA), the Dodongo Skull, Water level (OoT), large central ice pillar, water flow direction, entire-dungeon-upside-down-switch (MM), waterfall stairs, spinner screws, monkeys (TP). The puzzles were fun, just not as clever as we're used to from Zelda (maybe not anymore after PH and ST).
Also the last part of the game dragged on FOREVER! Sailing the world for Triforce Charts and Triforce pieces was so tedious.
And yes I still love that game, but all the praise is a little much in my opinion.

this whole system is rediculous. cant nintendo think of something else. they try to be ahead of the game, but yet fail everytime. the Wii used to be the thing to get, even i had a hard time finding one for my daughter years ago. but now, you dont hear nothing of it. and i doubt this will help

Mr unverified you are contradicting what you are saying. Nintendo is thinking of something else. If nothing else Nintendo is thinking out of the "box". They are creating their own box, heck its not even a box it's hexagon. If you look at Nintendo's last 3 known consoles they each have been deviations from their competitors. The Gamecube, Wii, and now Wii U were all different from both Microsoft and Sony's consoles. Some many like their style, some may hate it. From your comments we can see where you stand.
The fact is if you hate Nintendo and their directions, or you love Nintendo and their choices. You have to recognize they are helping the gaming industry from going stagnate. Many of our childhood dreams about gaming are turning into reality, Nintendo are taking risky, technological leaps on how to enhance gaming. Each of the three major console companies have brought new feats to the field of gaming that we embrace. We are sure to see many more in the years ahead.

It's similar to Remote Play, but only in the WiiU's ability to stream the game to the controller screen. Theoretically, there will be gameplay elements unique to each screen in some games.
Don't ask me what will happen to those gameplay elements when you want to make use of the WiiU's ability to switch to streaming the whole game to just the controller, though.
It's really more of a huge DS than a complete ripoff of Remote Play.

@Extinction Unless the Vita is offering multiplayer along with alleged connectivity then no it's not quite that at all. I say alleged because the actual details of that connectivity remain to be stated such as the need or not of more than one copy of the game just as an example.
And yeah WiiU is totally a ripoff of a feature that was finagled haphazardly into what games actually worked with it due to radically different control schemes. And still DOESN'T actually accomplish what the WiiU is claimed to do (we'll have to wait on that I guess).
Hey, I'm a content PS3/PSP owner, but Remote Play was largely a neato trick at best. Which might be all that the WiiU ends up being no doubt, but it definitely appears to be a more fully leveraged concept than Remote Play. Just like Gears is "obviously" the herald of the cover based 3rd person shooter, the one everyone references when they casually mention a Gears-like game or element, despite say Kill Switch coming out 3 years earlier.
One might have had the kernel of the idea, the other leveraged it better and frankly that makes all the difference because to do that you have to put your eggs in that basket. Easy enough to throw out pie in the sky ideas out there, the other half of the equation that earns you the glory is to attach your name to that idea and ride that train. There were touchscreens that existed before Nintendo and Apple brought them to their respective arenas, they just put their money where their mouth was. We'll see here as well, though I do think the application is so different as to warrant legit credit.
