Free Klassic Noob and Smoke with Mortal Kombat Compatibility Pack 2
32
NetherRealm Studio's pallet-swap parade continues to march through blood-splattered streets, as July 5 marks the introduction of another set of complimentary Klassic Kostumes for Mortal Kombat's two most gray-scale-iest fighters.
Included in the fighter's forthcoming Compatibility Pack 2, designed to make systems ready for the Kenshi DLC dropping the same day, these costumes allow Noob Saibot and Smoke to join in with the rest of the ninja clan's retro reindeer games. With at least two more DLC characters due this year, and with all the ninjas now tastefully dressed, it's unclear whether or not free costumes will continue to be the norm when system updates come to town. For now though, enjoying murdering hundreds of people in a slightly different outfit.

Then need to make this compatibility Pack into patches because not everyone is gonna download it from the store but a patch would mean everyone who plays online will have to get it.

Its nice for those who wouldn't play online, but still have the connection, to minimize the harddrive clutter? Granted they don't care about klassic kostumes.

Then the people who don't want to play online don't have to download the patch. The point is, if people want to play online, compatibility patches NEED TO BE MANDATORY. It's completely unacceptable for these updates to be "optional" and still allow online play. I paid money for these DLC add-ons so I damn well better be able to use them, whether my opponent has it or not.
They also need to fix the Klassic Skins compatibility issue. As it stands, if my opponent does not have them, I can't use them. And if either of us select *ANY* alternate costume, the game desynchronizes. And last but not least, Kratos isn't even available on the character select screen.
MAKE THE GODDAMN PATCHES MANDATORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll be honest, I like this Smoke better than his default. He looks RIGHT as a generic ninja.

Yeah, his default, flowing-hair look just does not cut it. He looks cool as a masked ninja, and I liked the cyber-ninja look in MK3 too, but I do not understand why they'd want to make him look the way he does in this one.

I am enjoying these free costumes. Thank you NetherRealm, you could have easily charged for these. Although I do like the new Noob costume a lot better.

@UndyingForce See that Capcom? That expression on UndyingForce's face? That's called a smile.

I think there'd probably be at least one more Klassic outfit pack. After all, the female ninja's outfits in MK II are completely different from those in UMK III

I had some mild interest in buying this game but all these patches and DLC, both paid and free... it's all gotten much too confusing and messy. I'll wait until theres a GOTY pack with everything included. Because I also don't agree with paying for specific texture and move sets.

Yea it's very confusing. Strange no one else has this problem.

@adr916 As much as I love Capcom for their games their strategy with DLC is pretty much infuriating. Their prices for things that seem small and nominal are outlandish. Costume packs should not cost me 1/4 of what the game costs ($15 for costumes when the game cost $60). I don't mind paying a few extra bucks for some visual candy but other things like the new chars in MVC3 $5 (though idk what MK is charging but $5 for a character kinda seems pricy imo, yeah a lot of work goes into making a character but for $60 you get xx number from the original roster so it's hard for me to validate $5 for one).

Also I hate how they made these two characters the two most spamtastic characters in the entire game.

They kompletely missed their opportunity to call this the Kompatibility Pack.

I understand that the compatibility is not there yet but Im not complaining because they could have charged for the klassic costumes. Sooner or later they are going to have a mandatory patch that would fix all this to play online and have a good connection.
I still like the default costume for Noob.

Somehow I wish the other ninjas' klassic outfits were like this (MK2) instead of MK1. The mask just looks way better.

This is sweet, although I'm still waiting for classic reptile +fatality ermac scorpian +fatality and katana to drop since sub zero came with my copy...would be willing to pay for those.

@(Unverified) They're in Klassic Pack 1, which is I think $5 for the set--Reptile, Sub, and Scorp with their fatalities, Ermac, Mileena, Kitana and Jade. Then Cyrax and Sektor are included in the Compatibility download for Skarlet.

To me, all the generic ninja costumes look better than the new default looks. But then I'm a child of the MKI and II era.

it can get really expensive fast , i wish more companys did free dlc but in our money driven world i dont see it happening, its puzzling how dlc can cost more than a full game like a greatest hits titles like fallout, mass affect, uncharted all of which were game of the year titles.
