@AutobotIronhide
Not for those who have slow internet and a low bandwidth cap.
Ill stick to Steam , Gamers Gate and GoG.

@Silent Killer01
It's odd they posted this but missed the thank you part. Thats a better deal if you ask me. If I read that right I can get FEAR3 just for subscribing a month?

@DarkNightRJ looks that way. I know it's hard to believe but onlive does do some crazy deals. Just like the spend $10 and get 100% off code got mine and got the $99 micro console.

@Silent Killer01 thank you for pointing that out... i just recently fell in love with onlive (i have a perfectly capable gaming pc but just love how quick and easy onlive is) and subscribed to the playpack a few days ago. I have fallen in love all over again.

Ok I tried it and the Onlive service is decent ..... a bit of laitencey ... nothing too bad.

But when I tried it, it was streaming me ~1gb of video every ~30min or so.... most indie games are less than 1gb to download. It just doesn't make any sense to stream them.... when said stream will likely run you considerably more bandwidth than just downloading them from another retailer.

I understand for some games, and for Demos it works out really well since most modern game demos come in at over a gig each anyhow.

Nice that they are having a sale and all but the cost to benefit ratio is just skewed enough that its not something I'm personally interested in.

Even though I own a Wii, Xbox 360, and PS3, these deals just keep me coming back to OnLive. I agree that the quality can definitely be lower than what you get on an actual console along with the minute of lag, but you can't beat cheap and free games. I encourage anyone who hasn't tried the service out to go ahead and try it.

Another deal they are offering is if you sign up this weekend, you can get your first purchase 50% off by using the code NEWMEMBER50 (only applies to the non-sale items unfortunately). Existing members get 30% off using the code 4JULY30.

To avoid confusion, that's minute in the adjective sense, not the noun sense. It's not a full minute (60 seconds) of lag.

Great deals. Makes me think I should get the playpack, but for the sake of working I must not do it or else I do nothing but play games all day.

For some games it makes sense for people who otherwise couldn't play those games on their weak computers and have a decently fast net connection. However games like world of goo make no sense to me. That's a game that will play smoothly on the worst of netbooks, and can be bought for nearly nothing, played without a constant net connection, and won't be lost if/when the service is ever discontinued, plus you don't have to pay a service fee every month just to play it.

@aea0a095 Actually, there is no monthly service fee. The service itself is completely free, you just buy or rent the games themsleves. Unless you're talking about the PlayPack, which is where you pay $10 for for a bunch of games.
