#1 ICO- You play as that boy with horns, Ico. You have to help that ghostly looking girl, Yorda, escape from a castle, as you encounter enemies, obstacles and puzzles.
#2 SotC- You play as the dude with longish hair, Wander. You travel to a forbidden land because there is a chance that you can resurrect your dead girlfriend. The creepy voice at 0:32 tells you that you have to go kill the 16 collosi that live in the forbidden land if you want to save her.
Both games have a lot of puzzle aspects, teamwork, and friendship. ICO with Ico and Yorda, SotC with Wander and his horse Aggro. There haven't been many details about The Last Guardian so far, but it will likely follow this pattern. They are all spiritual successors to each other, with reoccurring themes and story elements. (Horned people, black spirit/smoke people, friendship etc.)
Now stop being confused and START BEING EXCITED!

It's one thing to briefly see the colossi in a trailer. It's quite another to actually fight them. I remember battling for 2 hours against one of them, desperately trying to figure out where its weak points were, and how to get to them, while also trying to stay alive. It was such an epic fight!
Believe me, the trailer didn't show anything that was hard to figure out about the colossi.

Am I missing something? This game looks cool, but the graphics are just average. Is Joystiq talking about the graphics when they say "are too pretty, too soon"?

If this looks average on a PS3, thats great news :D That means it looked astounding on PS2.
I played ICO, never got to play SoTC, even though at the time I planned to buy it.....then my PS2 R.I.P-d.

I don't think the graphics are as improved in SotC as the framerate has. Of course, is a PS2 game and the graphics were not THAT great, but this game is all about the artistic direction. On the other hand however, is nice to see the textures less pixelated and actually see the "small" details of the colossus.

Well they didn't excatly remake the game from the ground up, if that were the case, like for example the new Abe's Oddysee and Exodus remakes (even if they are remakes) we'd see a whole different two games, these just recieved the upgrade treatment, not really noticable until you try to play the game as you did in the old days, with a crap box tv with a hazy screen which at the time you thought was fine but now mysteriously blinds you and on a PS2.
Bleh! You will defo notice the graphical upgrade and appreciate it, lol

Definitely picking this up. People keep ragging on Nintendo and Sony for re-releasing games, but they aren't just regular old games. These are special games and these re-releases are awesome ways for people to enjoy the classic games they love or games that they might have missed out on. Not only that, but these are the definitive versions, too.
Epic could not be a more appropriate word for this.

@Uncle Jesse even when this game was new, I knew I wanted to see a remake done later on down the line. You get the feeling, while playing this game, that the PS2 wasn't powerful enough to display it. Higher frame rate will be just about all this needs to look fantastic, but increased textures will be great too.

I just wish that they added more to the game in the way of gameplay and enemies now that they have the capabilities :(
But I guess that would be asking for fireworks on top of a superb birthday party, just the rerelease alone is candy to my taste buds :D

Beautiful, beautiful games.
So few games have ever managed to evoke a level of emotion from me. (Heavy Rain is one other I can think of.) Just unforgettable gaming experiences, and if you missed them first time round then this is your chance to rectify that oversight.

They look great and I've already paid for my copies, but unfortunately being in HD won't make the plot make any more sense to my western brain.
Still, I can't wait.

Despite owning both of these, i'll probably pick the collection up, if only for the enhanced visuals and framerate.

I don't know... This sounds silly, but the framerate of the original was kind of part of the experience. It's at least part of the memories. It created an otherworldly feel that made it easier to be absorbed into. Kind of like how film runs at 24fps, but once you put it at 30fps and it looks real time it loses that movie magic feel.
